Both are very efficient lights
ChilLED has the same base spectrum but with boosted blue & red

As mentioned the ChilLED seems to be more efficient. Keep in mind 300w in a 2x2 is going to be too much light unless you turn it down, like below 50%. A 200w system at 2.3-2.4 umol/j will provide around 25 par watts per square foot. A 300w system at 60% efficiency turned down to 150 watts (65% efficiency ballpark) would provide 25 par watts.
Not a 300w -vs- 300w analogy, but the point is even a 200w lamp at 2.3-2.4 umol/j (about 25 par watts per foot) in a 2x2 is on the beefy side.
I like to run around 20 par watts per foot, so I would end up turning either lamp down a bit more.
And there's a point to consider regarding desired intensity -vs- footprint. That 300w lamp is good for a 3x3 and is going to provide a good distribution at the right height in a 3x3. Using it in a 2x2 (or part of a larger space) you either hang high (which may not be desirable) or you hang low and dim.
So, a good way to go about it might be to draw up plans for your ultimate goal and figure out what part of it you can use in a 2x2. When I was selling lamps my 2x2 solution was 180w output at max with 56% efficiency, or MAX 25 par watts per square foot.

Perhaps the density of their diode layout necessitates the fans? Which brings me to one of my hangups with their products - packing all that light into such a small footprint seems like old-school thinking? I have the same issue with the new QB96 Elite though. Hopefully some grow journals will prove me wrong!

I reckon so.
I was expecting heat sink to be hot because of the density, but after being on for 11 hours, the hottest part of the heat sink I could find with ir temp gun was 3 deg C lower than tent temp.
Did not believe it at first, checked ir gun, kept testing as close as possible to diodes & had to accept the cooling is very efficient.
Heat sinks are milled flat & polished. Board mounted with wet thermal paste.

A 2'x2' hu. 1, 100 cob will flower that in a reflective area. Toss a few colors around it & some screw in 15w house led flood lights for the corners & you'll be golden for under $200.
If you want to maximize yield maybe try growing vertically w/ strips on the side. I use these just about everywhere.

They r available in K-Temps ranging from 24k-6k. Dimensions of 2' x 4' will allow you to fit it in there as the 2' is actually 1'10" I think. I dont actually own the 2' ones. Mine are 12" (10.5") & 16" wide.
Theres a silicone sealant over the diodes so one can foliar or whatevs.
Anyways, one plant grown vertically in a 3-5 gall pott in Coco could get u a 1/2 plate all day. 100w above & 200w of strips for 2 sides. You'll have more then enough light for sure. Blinding!
Now for the top I'd recommend the HLG because theres a wide selection (which will allow for better coverage)
they're passively cooled, more affordable, & white. Super easy & cheap to add some color if you want to. Have been curious about the ChilLed spectrum & would like to try it myself. Allot of us all say the same thing, that we havent seen much for grows or results on the ChilLed. I doubt you can go wrong buying it. Havent heard anything bad or good from those who own them TBH.

in the end fans are the best for cooling ,cheaper,as well as increased air flow..no fan has ever gone on my homemade light..
its been over three yrs..maybe more i forget..and they were not even top of the line ones
but you were SO into water cooling before..i never could get behind it..i have enough other things to confuse me

I used to think fans were better for cooling, but oversizing a pin fin heatsink can produce fan quality temperatures. If it's though of as an investment with an upgrade path it can be as cheap as fans over the long run. The last lamps I made used 45w emitters on 150mm pin sinks.

Huh? I think you must be thinking of someone else (ttystikk, maybe?). I was never into water cooling and I only used fan-cooled fixtures when that's all that was available. Now that things have gone passive, I'm definitely onboard for it.

i do lilke using passive sinks as led grid frames ..i still think fans are the best cooling
Water cooling would probably be good in a greenhouse situation smaller heatsink/footprint less sunlight's is being blocked by the lights

Fans are only a couple watts in some cases the additional cooling from the fans increase light output enought to make up for the couple watts. I run all passive myself but in the future I wouldn't be apposed to fans it can save hundreds of dollars and alot of weight I hate how heavy my passive heatsinks are.

Oh, hells yeah. The landlords submitted to demo the townhouses in my area and build a condo/apartment so I'll most likely be forced to move out within the next 2-3 years. I'm saving my pennies to buy my first house and will 100% be growing full time.

Our Product wasn't started in china lol. We designed the Quantum Boards ourselves. The HLG 550 will be ETL certfied to UL 1598 damp rated in less than a month. It has already passed we are waiting on IFA (Intial Factory Audit).... That's it......
