The dreaded spider mite

Hello Folks :peace:

Thank you all for suggestions etc regarding spider mites. I ended up using Himalayan salt crystals. Sprayed each plant with a litre of water and 6 tablespoons of the crystal salt which I had to crush and dissolve in boiling water.
Afterwards I put each plant under a luke warm shower for around 10 minutes. I then put them next to a window where the autumn sun part dried them.
Finally after hoovering, scrubbing, washing and change of water, I put them all back in the tent and set dehumidifier to 35%. Today I spent around 15 minutes looking for spider mites. I didn't find any. Now I'm not saying it's cured my problem. So don't rush off and nick your girlfriends Himalayan exfoliating crystals. I will check again tomorrow.
On a different note, my trichomes have jumped up. It's easily a quarter. It's time to pull the plug.
Q) Are my buds safe to chop down what with the possibility of stealth spider mites ( meaning mites I missed.. Easily done, I need an eye test )
Thanks All bongsmilie:blsmoke::bigjoint::joint::mrgreen:
I don't know anything about the salt but I promise you they're not gone. In the past I've attacked them with all kinds of chemical sprays, homemade & store-bought and I've waited months and started growing again but they were back in no time. I guarantee you didn't get rid of them, I don't mean this in a bad way but you're going to find out it's true.

You might want to try the Mighty Wash recommended above because I've never heard of salt I don't think that's going to do anything if I'm honest or everybody would be using it, jmo, good luck

Thank you for the message and your opinion. Much appreciated. I value and take heed. I also thought salt won't work. I may have washed some away.
I been flushing 4th day complete. Trichones 30% amber. And EC staying at .500. Should I just harvest now?

Cheers Mister

Myself I like no more than 10% Amber but that's kind of a personal taste so couldn't advise in that. I would recommend looking up bud washing to clean off the dead mites and their waste products tho, good luck!

I tried to catch you on your other thread that plants not ready to harvest I doubt you have 30% amber on that plant you might be looking at the leaves you got to check the buds for ripeness not the leaves

Also flushing is kind of a controversial thing I'm not going to get into hippie myth or not here because you got bigger issues unfortunately but there's another reason you don't want to flush because you might not be as far along as you think and then what?

I think I realise what you mean about looking at the 30% on the leaves. Is it because I'm looking at a bud with loupe, that maybe I am seeing the leaves poking through the bud and not eying the actual bud?

Thank you Mister

I dont think you understood what beachwalker meant by your response or maybe I am wrong but checking trics for amber cloudy or clear on the bud or trics on the leaf seem to be the same to me. A trich is a trich is a trich.

I wouldnt spray any oils or pepper sprays on a plant ten days before chop maybe mighty wash a couple of days before and water anytime up to the chop as just plain old water will kill adult mites if you hit them with it and I do know you cut them down so for next time.

and if you want to get serious about killing spider mites you need a serious sprayer, so I posted about the sprayer I made here.

Thank you for the message and advise.

I have now cut them down.

..tried to catch you on both your threads before you chopped! I looked at the picture again and I would have left it another week - 10 days or so, but it's fine at this point, and probably better because of the mite issue anyway, but now you've got to knock them out and they're very hard to eradicate cuz if even one of them survived they will be back!

Also FYI that's incorrect information above.
Do not check your trichomes on the leaves. Check inside on the bud itself, as the sugar leaves mature first, in some cases weeks before the bud.
