I finally got around to putting this together. Been sitting on this stuff for a while, pulled the trigger last night.
I have a 980gph water pump with the outlet pointing at the surface of the water in the res. I have a 4" air stone for backup if needed. Water temp is 71 lights on. I'm running hydroguard, too.
No leaks, I'm happy with it.

I see there in the back you linked the top returns to equalize flow.
Those bottom inlets will clog for sure, do something now to make them easy to unclog. Nothing you can do to stop it, just be prepared to deal with it. Mostly because if those main returns clog, your buckets will overflow.

Double up. Install ball valves after your pumps so you can throttle the flow in case you notice the buckets fuller than the res.
Where your bottom returns are, stick bulkhead filters over the ends. If they clog you can pull off the end and figure out what to do next without any overflows.
Consider your bottoms returns clogging as an initiation right. It means your roots are the shit.

It's actually just one run off one pump. The other pump in the res is for the top feed.

I might also put in another smaller 1" return an inch higher than the water level as a backup if a bucket does clog until I catch it. I'd run it back to the res and if I ever saw water coming out of it I'd know I have the beginning of a problem. I could probably get away with a 1/2", my sprayer isn't going to outrun a 1/2" pipe. That will have to be next go around.

My tents open on three sides. I'll put the net up when the time comes.

I did pretty much did the same thing in mine. I have big totes so I put it on a 45 so i could aim the spray.

I'm putting together another system for another tent. Right now the tent has coco pots in it, so I rigged up the future top feed to use as an auto drip feeder until they are done.
I put the hole for the top feed pipe where it needs to go in the tub, but that's it. Once this grow is done I'll then spin the tub around and finish putting everything else in. I'll incorporate the overflow drain in the next one, and later do it to the first one.
I run the pumps on a wifi timer. There is an app that lets me do pretty much anything I want as far as schedules and timers, the dripper manifolds have individual adjustments also, so that's really helpful when it comes to dialing it in.

Everything else can be bought at a hardware store:
-Buckets (about $4 each)
-Lids (you can make your own and use net pots, or get something like these)
-27 Gallon HDX tote ($10)
-PVC pipe & fittings ($25)
-1/4" ID rubber landscape hose ($.05-$.10/ft)

I've got about $100 in it.

I made a few updates to it.

In a couple of months I'm going to be away during the week, I can't be having a problem.
I was going to run without air stones and see if I could pull off the waterfall method. I'm not going to have time to change anything later, so I went with better safe than sorry. I do have someone I can teach to do ph adjustments while I'm gone.

I also went with an idea I had a few posts back about an overflow if a drain got clogged by roots. I've been testing it out, and it's working great. As long as when I check the res there is no water coming out of the overflow, everything is fine. If there is water coming out, then I have a problem and can go hunt it down. @5BY5LEC thanks for the heads up on roots clogging the drains. I can sleep at night now.

Of course, I had to officially test it:

A 100% clog.


Here is the res. Normal return and overflow return. Every time I lift the lid, there should be nothing coming out of the 1/2" return.

Now I know I have a clog, or the beginning of one. Anything coming out at all means I need to start looking for a clog, or I can do it the next day if I can't.
