F.A. i can understand why you would think that however they both received the same care with once a day hand watering. Just seemed to take its sweet time extending roots. Its a lil slooooow.
There is no think here I did the same thing with my rooters and several of my plants almost died until I corrected it. That plant is still quite small and the cube is visibly soaked. Your leaf that looks like it starting to rot is from your cube being too wet. Its behind because its stunted from being over-watered. Just pointing it out, if you want to continue to drown your plants please continue to do so.

The Roots are also taking so long because how youre watering. You're wetting the whole pot down so the roots are filling your pot first instead of growing straight down seeking out water like they could be.

I did the same thing and had the same issues and my plants didnt recover and start growing down until I changed these things.

Your media is not dirt and actually should be fairly dry. Its not there to hold moisture, just hold your plants upright. The roots in the water are where it is happening. I think initial watering should only be taking place due to the water splash from aeration. Nothing else needed.

Yer looking good!
What kind of air pump you running BTW? I am supposed to pick up a Blue Diamond ET100 on Thursday for 80 bucks.
Talk about overkill. It has a 3/4 output. My next grow I want so much air in those buckets it is a cross between aero and DWC haha only half kidding though.

Certainly pumps a decent amount of air. 1 stone in each tote to keep it aerated while my inline water pump is off. I put the water pump on a timer 1hour on 2hours off to help keep water temps down and it seems to be working well.

It not a big deal, but if you run those 4 unused air ports to two extra stones in each tub, I think it would really help out when you run the air pump as far as output and pump longevity. It would only cost you about 30 bucks.
Those piston pumps are good. Mine did me right for sure. A case fan on it keeps it nice and cool.

God I'm so glad I don't use air pumps anymore in RDWC... Just looking at those pics brings back nightmares of how loud they are.

What in-line fan do you use? I wish all I had to hear were my air pumps.
Cheap 6" exhaust and a 6" intake here. Only run the intake if its hot.
I will say those fans were the single loudest part of my grow. You could hear the noise of rushing air from the exterior vent outside, it sounded like a jet.

Both of my Centrifugal style fans motors shit the bed yesterday. My new style fan arrives tomorrow. It's like a cheap o hyper fan. I'm sure it'll be much quieter than those large ones used before. God those are so annoying and I'll never get one again. Hope to one day get all hyper fans

You should switch intake to 4" and run all the time. Fresh C02 is very important.
