These veg/ bloom spectrum ? i've got two 324qb two hlg 120h c1400 driver .. got four 288qb on a hlg 480 in a 5x9 .. how many 96s would i need to get the light needed for the 5x9 tent?

If you were only using 96s, you could ratio it using 4to6 for a 4x4, which is 1 96 tor every 3 to 4 sq ft; so approx 11 to 15, and then use a light meter to work out best coverage layout (i’d start hy replicating 6 light layout above, putting 3 bds in the short direction, every 18” from each other across the long direction), like this:

If you’re talking about, fitting them in with your existing lights, buy a couple 96s, hlg-240h-54A drivers, and a light meter, and get to work figuring out what’s best for you.

The sweetspot for these lights is 120 to 240w each, 18 to 24” above tops...

Yes i'm fitting them with the existing lights.. so maybe 3 96s to start with?

I’ve got eight 288s and 4 hlg 35s in a 4x4 runing ~720w total, expecting to pull 3-4 lbs, dry.

I will be running those against another 4x4 w 6 96 and a 28 diode far red bar, running about 720 and similar spectrum, both at approx 1000 ppfd across the 4x4, w 1500 ppm co2.

You have equivalent of about 7 288s if my math is correct, in about 3x the space. If i were trying to replicate what i’m currrntly doing, in your space, i’d buy 9 running 120w each at 18”, then arrange your lights in three equal size sections, first section with your current lights, the 9 96 spread across the other two sections.

I’m happy with this intensity (~60w/sq ft max, 45w/sq ft average), most people here would say you could go 30w/sq ft.

Wow that means i'm way under powered... was trying not to spend so much lol
Little by little works too...at current price, i doubt you can currently do better...great intensity, coverage, spectrum, efficiency, price....and small size doesn’t clog up your airflow/vpd...

Since I already have 8 qb 120's + 2 hlg 240-2100 b in my 4x4. I have a smaller 20"x36"x62" tent I was looking to build a light for. After reading and re-reading this thread a couple of times. I now know I want these! Problem is, I know eventually I'm going to want to put these in the 4x4. For now I'll just buy 2 qb96's and 2 of the Hlg 240-54A's and cram them into them into the lil tent for now.
I've been all over the place trying to decide on my next build. @Randomblame, I appreciate your advice on the strips in the other thread.

My advice to anyone on the fence about lights, if you don’t have to buy lights, wait.

Samsung seems to be making an investment in hort diodes, they make these moves because they see a big enuff market for themselves, hlg is just a small part of the pie. When blurple and hps based companies look at their future, it’s got to be getting whiter. I think we’re on the verge of an explosion of white led based offerings.

I just popped seeds, in a 2x3x4.4’ prop tent, single 96, somewhere near 4’ above seedlings, @ 82w, for 142 ppfd, @ 3400k

Once they get transplanted to their own buckets, i’ll put in a second 96, til cloning.

You don’t need more than 2 in that tent, and prob get away with one if you’re not flowering in there.

If you want more than the already ample blue, stick in a blue qb11, or two, with it.

Regrading Emerson, I recall reading somewhere the effect drops off as the PPFD goes up. More light in the 580-680nm seems to be the goal, however one get's there. Is there any info to support the Emerson Effect at high intensities?

Also, is there relevant data to support FR during the day cycle as opposed to increasing ambient temp? I haven't been keeping up with the FR thread.

@Randomblame recently addressed you first question - basically, more effect at lower intensities, still effective at higher ones, other benefits besides PS.

Not sure about research on second point, fr during day is for emerson tho, can temp increase really substitute?

I like those little black volt,current,power,energy thingys. Are they relatively easy to connect? I'd want to out them on all my fixtures,cob bars,qbs,etc.

Eventually, I'll be redesigning my fixtures.

I'll admit, I was fine having the led gurus and mathematical wizs do all the brain work figuering out what works, then just copying the builds. lol, I can copy really well:bigjoint:

Yea my fault. I know you weren't recommending a lux meter. I actually ment to delete that part of my post as I've found the thread it was mentioned in. There's one also mentioned earlier here.
I have more learning to do before I can feel comfortable purchasing the Apogee right now. With the lux meter and the conversion factor, I can get a rough idea of where I am at. I'm not so into spectral tuning at this time as I am in having great photon count throught the spectrum.
