Democrats vote to nominate Nancy Pelosi for House speaker

@Fogdog

A partial birth "abortion" isn't an abortion and is plain murder. A "doctor" rather executioner inserts a syringe into the skull into a fully formed 40 week developed baby and extracts its brain so it cannot be considered a live birth anymore.
There is no such thing as "partial birth abortion". There is just abortion. The decision whether or not to have an abortion is made by the woman who is carrying the fetus. That is all.

Regarding your histrionic post, there is zero evidence that healthy women in the US are opting to abort fully formed 40 week healthy fetuses. I'm having a discussion with another person on this board regarding his willingness to simply believe without facts. Seems you fit that category too.

In any case, you don't get a say on this. Being that you are a man, you never will.

Hillary was in the Senate, not the house. Nancy does raise lots of money. For both sides.

But the leadership positions are like the Captains of a football team. Your teammates decide who is best to get them where they want to go.
This might be true in most circumstances, but in politics this is simply who wants to continue their career and who wants to risk being voted out based on who they follow.

In the weird world of the House, Committee appoints are the coin of the realm, {kind of like likes are here}. Guess who is in charge of handing them out? NP is good at buying off the opposition with appointments.

It's Ironic she scares the GOP so badly for her liberal leanings, yet the liberals say she isn't liberal enough.
Pelosi is a moderate Democrat by most standards. She opposes universal health care, legalizing marijuana, and campaign finance reform. The overton window has been moved so far to the right, anything but far right policies "scares the GOP". Democratic "leadership" caves to right wing pressure because their donors interests take precedence over constituents

Nancy Pelosi is a skilled politician who will advance an anti-Trump agenda
Exactly right. And actual policy will fall by the wayside which is what led to a Trump presidency in the first place. If the Democratic party doesn't lead by populist policy, Trump has a better chance of winning again in 2020. They can't just be anti-Trump

Being anti-Trump is populist policy

Duality is the rule of the day and you want to be about a 3rd option- I get that as a contrarian, but it really isn't helpful under these circumstances

So how many Republican votes will she need to be elected?

I am asking you because you claimed that she would need them in order to get elected.

You're right, but it's not enough. In order for a Democrat to win in 2020, they will need to be anti-Trump & have a bold progressive message. You have to bring out the progressive base to win, the only way to do that is to offer progressives something they want, like Medicare-for-All, a new green New Deal, investments in infrastructure and education, campaign finance reform, a living wage, universal higher education, etc.

So be aware of that when you vote in the next democratic presidential primary. As of now, if Democrats elect another new wave, centrist Democrat to face Trump in 2020, they will lose like they did in 2016.
