PICKING BEST TENT

OK guys Im expanding and need a new tent, I already own the 5x5 Vivosun tent, its not a bad tent, had some tiny pin hole leaks, but I've made the room light prof, so it's not an issue!

I'm looking to expand and get a 4x8 to run along side my 5x5, I'm looking for the best deal for the best price! I have heard the gorilla tents are amazing, but with a 600$ price tag for a 5x9, I'll unfortunately never get to find out!

so who's got what, how much, and what's the good and bad about it! thanks guys!!!

Apollo Horticulture has nice quality, steel connectors, and they are reasonably priced. Lately, here on the forum, I've been seeing some growers using tents with green poles. I THINK they are called green cubes. Not sure, I meant to look at them.

I'm thinking tents are like BBQ's, why spent $750 when a $350 will do just as well. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will disagree on that.
I bought an entry level tent years ago, it works, survived three household moves, and is long past paying for itself, so I just got another.

Good luck

I have a secret Jardin Dr 80 from like 2008 and it still works like a charm . I also own a Summit grow labs tent that is super durable and zero light leaks .it's by far the best built tent I have ever owned

that's the one I have with green poles, its a vivosun, and it's not bad, but the zippers have broke, there is tons of light leak, the bottom floor thing ripped, I'm just over all not the happiest, and would rather either, pay a lot less, or get a much better product!Screenshot_2018-12-07-08-39-23.png

Hey Thumbs ... good to know what to anticipate as time marches on.

I've got one of those Vivosun small grow tents. No major light leaks ... well .. a few pin holes around one of the round openings for venting ... and when I open the front flap, I make sure that I hold that flap to keep it from flopping around so that the zipper remains as "stress free" as possible. So far - so good but it's only been about 1 year.

Just wondering how long your zippers lasted before they were pooched?

I’ve got a VivoSun too. The zippers are crappy on mine and I’ve got a few pin hole leaks. Not a huge deal, but if you’re looking at another brand at a similar price I’d recommend them over Vivosun. It looks like crappy zippers and pin holes are just par for the course with their tents.

Hey "Thumbs" & "Things" - thanks to both for your input.

Where I grow may be changing soon and the possibility for a larger tent for flower is very real. I'll look at other vendors when that does come about. I can keep my current 2' x 4' as a veg tent in the dark space and just leave the flap open since there's no real stink during the veg phase.

Good to know, as I have seen a few users using them. I ampartial to Apollo Horticulture. I 've had one of their tents for 8 years. Zpper clasp finally broke 3 months ago, so I used some wire to put thru the clasp, twisted it, bam! new zipper!. I recently purchased a smaller 3'x1.4'x5' apollo tent.

I'm looking at trying to get a 4x8, all the cheap ones cost between 100 and 150, then the really expensive ones between 300 and 600! just trying to figure out what's the best deal, for the lowest amount!

Heres what I bought off ebay. I cant find another 4x4 tent that cheap anywhere else. The frame is all metal and I had to use velcro and little pieces of gorilla glue and e6000 to tape the little pinholes (not many). It used to be $69.95. I couldnt find a cheaper tent even on black friday hoping they would cost cheaper.ebay tent.PNG

I thought about just buying the absolute cheapest tent I could, bc light leaks isn't a problem, bc I'm sealing the windows with black out curtians, and also 80% of the time the tent doors are open anyway for air flow, so I'm thinking I could just go super cheap, bc all I really need it's the reflective surface and the frame for hanging the lights!

but don't get me wrong I'd prefer to have a nice gorilla tent, I have never heard a negative thing about them, other than price!

Same here. Those things cost too much LOL. On amazon there are some negative reviews on those gorilla tents like bad zippers (I use fakespot to find out if the reviews are honest made by customers and not people from the company or people trying to help them get a good rating). Seems like a problem with the zippers can apply to almost all grow tents.

yea they don't make 4x8 grow boxes lol,

I was actually now considering just using the frame from my 5x5, to hold lights on each far end, and then throwing up some panda film, and that's it! I'm actually moving in a few months and this will be my last cycle in this house.
