You Can Do That?

Nice set-up! It's amazing what you can produce in a small 2' x 4' footprint with good heat control, lights and air movement. I have a bunch of 50 lb chain just like you do. It's holding up my LED's, side lights, fans ... I call it duct tape for growers.

BTW - were you gonna LST those girls in a little bit or just let 'em go and do their own thing?

Here's a little dried snip of some "under bud" taken from Kali last Sunday afternoon. This dried little nugget is just over 1" long, just over 1/2" in diameter, caked in trichomes and weighing just under 1 gram.

I have some pals coming over later tonight - and I'm sparking this up to test it out. I hope to become the victim of my own success

Oh so that's mainlining! I've seen the word but never knew what it really was. That does keep the canopy short and level.

Kali was mainlined as I accidentally let the top touch a CFL during sprouting so I had to top her really early. CFL's are warm enough to harm the fragile new plant top. But the good news is that two new shoots still came out. I tied the two shoots to grow opposite of each other. Mainlining ... I successfully did it and now I know what to call it.

Isn't it amazing how these plants can be bent and turned and tied down and even gently snapped - and they still happily bear you fruit?

Now THAT'S true love!

:p

Rob - what are some of those dry release nutes that you use? "Set and forget" sounds very appealing.

Thanks.
For years I mostly used FF Marine Cuisine during veg and HF Fruit and Flower during flower. When I got into LEDs I added CalMag, and then things spread out from there. At one point when the local shop didn't have Fruit and Flower I tried some Rainbow Pro products, and when I found out my water PH is stupid high I started to mix in Dr. Earth's Organic Acid Lovers (from Home Depot). So... I had all that on hand, and this run they got a dash of pretty much all that stuff, plus some worm poop, bone meal, and some extra bat guano. I like to mix it up. I'll top feed after I flip to flower if/as needed. So far I'm satisfied with how they're doing. The more I grow, the more I like to mix up a 1/3 dose each of three different sources, each probably has its own strengths and weaknesses. This time around I mixed Happy Frog, Fox Farms, and Roots Organic's soils together. Whatever... it all balances out in the end.

One thing I took away from SIPs is that I don't need to mix the nutes into the soil evenly, I'm thinking it's actually better not to. Right now I have five strains growing, and they all have different nutrient needs -- I might never grow these strains again and I don't have the time or desire to learn their individual preferences, so everyone gets the same cocktail. If I mix my nutes into half the soil (the bottom half), then the roots can tap into it as much or as little as they need to. So far that seems to be working, but it could just be luck. I also lean towards growing more than I need, so that I can set my environment up and if a percentage don't make it, they won't be missed.

It's an odd bunch this go round, some were from old seeds, a couple are strains that prefer to be outside. The leaves are a little curly in the first pics because after watering them I pushed the big top fan leaves behind the new growth to give the young leaves some direct light. They'll all burst out on their own soon.

These were from seeds, put in Rapid Rooters on 11/10, topped on 12/1. So they're 4 weeks from seeds being taken out of the fridge. I'll thin them as needed, but I'm hoping this grow not to do any training. I'll see how many boys I have, and depending on how much room I gain when they are removed I'll either let the others spread out or contain them (if I have enough room, I might even up-pot some). The plants are in charge now. Last note -- for true "set and forget" I'd have to start with clones or feminized seeds, and grow them in much bigger pots. With enough soil, I think I could set them up for the whole grow without top dressing halfway through. I just have too many seeds and too little space, so I've got them crowded together in 5 gallon pots.

Sorry to hijack Tim, got in that rambling mode... damn... I think I just wrote everything I know about growing in one post.

Good stuff mate!

I love seeing them putting out lots of new shoots and slowly start to bush up like that. And I know they have much more "a shootin' & a bushin'" to do yet.
2 weeks veg today, hoping to veg a total of 4 weeks at least,, thanks for checking in

When you set-up your Earthboxes how much actual soil did they take. The manufacture say it 2cu. ft., but i'm skeptical
that its that much for most users.
My earthbox hold a whole bag of soil such as ocean Forrest, be sure to pile the soil up and over the top , make a mound and then put the plastic cover on , you can do this because you won't be top watering

I hope everyone is having a nice day, IMG_4787.JPG IMG_4788.JPG IMG_4790.JPG IMG_4791.JPG IMG_4792.JPG IMG_4793.JPG IMG_4794.JPG IMG_4795.JPG 19 days since transplant, a little over 1 foot tall ( they were very small clones) ill see if i can spread them a bit more and keep buying some time before flipping, but my grow box is not that big, Everything is spot on, there is a little bit of Claw on the leaves, bu they the soil is pretty Hot, made it that way so it will be water only, maybe for the whole grow, certainly some of the nitrogen will be gone during flower, thats kinda how i want it, any how,, here are some pictures
