I only take advice from experts sorry. Topping autos is disgraceful. No-till organics only way to grow.
lol reading comprehension not your strong point? i literally said LST is a better alternative but on the flip side ive seen some monster autos achieved by ppl who topped their plants so whats so bad about it? limited uncontrollable veg time means no recovery time for mistakes, but if u keep em healthy n top early enough u can still achieve good results. That doesnt mean i advocate it, it just means it can be done and isnt a terrible thing. open that little box up called your mind and u might discover something ;) you aint even ready to decide whos an expert yet lil guy.

Yea i must have skipped the part were you said topping isnt the best, thought you said other way around my bad haha. Was just glad you agreed transplanting is defiantly not a must not do thing. Im a big noob, but can think for myself and read a lot. Only experts in my book so far would be cootz and blue.

Hi all,

This is my second grow...I killed the first plant a week into flower by suffocating it with too much CO2 :fire:

Once again, my wisdom decides to research topping of autoflowers a tad bid late. I had topped my prior grow (non-autoflower) and did the same to this one...Pretty much as soon as i topped it, I read that you are not supposed to top autoflowers..DOH :wall: (It is early on so hopefully it will have time to recover before flowering). Now i know....

Anyway, here are the pics. It is a NL autoflower strain from Nirvana. I didn't document exactly when it got planted (roughly 7/15) so this week would be the beginning of week #3.

Don't top auto flowering plants...bend and tie them over..topping is to drastic..and their grow times are too short to recover..it will affect yield too much.plus they are a shorter plant than full version indices and sati as..ditch weeds like rudest don't have the time to recover from cuts.

3-5 year old thread?? Also I disagree with about 95% of your post. Done right with good genetics and you can train a monster auto.

You can definitely transplant autos. It's all about timing and not damaging the roots. Been growing autos for 2 or 3 years. I have transplanted a few times and never have stunted growth. Best thing to do is red solo cups for two weeks. Cut the cups carefully. Make sure the soil is wet but not just watered, so it doesnt break. Also, in regards to topping. I have done well topping around the 2nd week of flowering. Although, I have had better luck not topping autos. It's all your preference though gents.:weed:

Forget the drama .... sow auto seed in final pot size and let it do it’s thing.

Absolutely no reason to start them in a cup or smaller container....

Topping does work on SOME autos , not all. BUT ... They have too short of a veg cycle to get carried away with techniques and stress. Plug and play simple.

My tip for you ... add all the lights you can right now. It needs as much as you can throw at it for good root mass. This IS THE CRITICAL STAGE for autos... if you screw the pooch during veg you suffer in flower. If I’m using a good complete soil medium , I add nothing and let it pull food from the medium. Simple water regiment up to point of some depletion ( usually going to week 2 of flower ) is when I introduce bloom only Nutes. After the stretch , nitro starts to lessen and PK is readily used.

Tip : With your CFL setup INCREASE the cycle time to increase the chance for better rooting.
The longer cycle will compensate the less than stellar lights ( I grew with them before ) by exposing plant to more energy that the lights can’t really provide.

Example :

24/0 run until transition ( preflower ) then either keep cycle straight thru and or drop to 20/4 or 18/6 for flower.

Never flower at 12/12 .... unless you like microbuds.

Once you upgrade lights you can run normal straight cycles.

Seed Straight to container grow ....

Looks good man, very healthy. Like I said, anyway honestly works. I grow in solo cups only during winter. In the 5 gallon pot, the seed is less likely to sprout for me. I keep my house at 60 degrees and dont use a heater in my veg tent. With solo cups I can keep my fluoro nice and close and keep the heat closer. Summer I drop the seed straight in my 5 gal since its warm and it sprouts fast.
