For once we agree on something. Trump has to go. He’s not only fucking up the US reputation even worse than it was but also it’s economic relationships with other countries. He wants to build the wall so he will leave a reminder to the world the he was here, the the Great Wall of Trump. His ego knows no bounds. That stupid wall would do nothing for the American people and would sour the relationship with Mexico. It isn’t Mexico’s fault GM is making cars and trucks there. They are employing Mexicans what else would you expect?

But you said the cars were not made in the US for years just Canada and Mexico. Our plants are assembly plants just like yours and you assemble cars. I’m not sure what your point was?

At this point it’s not worth arguing over but to agree that Trump is bad for business. That we can all agree on! He has wounded our auto industry and many support businesses will fall too. I dont believe any american cars are fully assembled and ready for distribution in america. F150 has been produced in mexico since the 90’s and c1500’s in canada. Those are the 2 biggest sellers.
Toyota, mitsubishi, nissan and subaru have had cars completely assembled and shipped to the dealer network here ever since we stopped back then.
I have not followed the industry close for a few years now. I apologize if i misinformed anywhere.
And my original post in this thread was simply that gm already announced the factory closings before trumps trade issues.
And that it makes sense for them to use the current media to blame it on trump. Good public relations to save face from hurting so many people. Its just business.
And it was the ladies toyota salesmen post that got us talking about where cars are actually built. He too parroted the bull about trade stuff and even said gm was going to build in china because of it. But these things are planned for years. Pre trump. Cars sure dont roll out of michigan factories. Just pieces of them.
The idiot president for the minute is only responsible for what he is actually responsible for. It will be over soon just like the rest of the power and ego hungry pr men we put in office.

What I find funny is that this is probably all a show and and it has the people fighting over pointless shit that they don't even have a clue what they're arguing about. i am pretty sure it was posted in the tesla thread a few months ago. Gm was ditching electric cars for now and closing the factories that were producing the slow selling mid size cars. Or something like that.
If i have time i will search it out. Are you daft enough to believe they would just suddenly close 5 factories because of a recent trade deal? They plan stuff out for years. Decades even. Costs millions per day to run some of these operations.
Use some common sense instead of pretending you are a reporter.
I have no reason to lie. I think both parties are very wrong at this point and none of their candidates should be considered.
