DIY with Quantum Boards

Hey guys, or Stephen, got a question. I purchased seven HLG-320 XL kits about five or six months ago. I’ve ran all of them since at around 160 watts each, at the wall. I love’em. I’d changed from HPS bulbs. No comparison to me, LED hands down. But, I noticed on one of the boards, two diodes have gone completely out. Another board has lost one diode completely with two others very dim. Boards on different heatsinks. My question, is that normal? My other five kits are doing fine. They’re all fine really. Except I don’t want to lose any more diodes. I’m not necessarily complaining. Just wondering if others have noticed the same thing. Is it something I should be overly concerned about? Will I lose more diodes? Thanks.

I picked up a ac power gauge to monitor how much power I'm using from Amazon like I've seen a few on here use.

Only question is do I wire it up pre power supply or post between the ps and lights? Or will either work.

Really just trying to get a number to go with what the light dial place is outputting for power.

Think about it... Kill a watts PLUG INTO THE WALL, therefore it'd be BEFORE the power supply.

What I want to know is can I put it also post power supply and see this output also change. This won't tell me I'm using xx watts true numbers

But it will output a number say 440watts at 100% when I turn the dial down all the way it might say 210watts.

I'm just trying to find a way to be able to adjust my Iight power levels in increments, not just a output number

And it's easier tapping into the light wiring scheme is my power cable

You can buy an ammeter to gauge the DC power but I see no need. I adjust mine by the draw at the wall. You don't need a DC side meter to adjust your brightness, the AC meter tells you all you need to know.

Your wattage does in fact decrease upon dimming.

It randomly turns off, I think, then I can unplug it and plug it back it and it turns on. This is my 3rd driver that I’ve had a problem with. Not like my temps are insanely high either. Highest it gets in my tent is maybe 85.

Your driver is working. you are tripping one of it's failsafes built into circuitry of the driver. I would investigate further into what exactly is making it trip.

How hard are you running it? it sounds like your either over voltage or over the amperage limits. You run any driver wide open and it will fail eventually.

It’s just a 260 304 board kit. For awhile I was running them at 260. Not too long ago I cranked all 3 of them up full blast.

I have cree 3590 cobs CD bin 3000K 80CRI run by Meanwell HLG-320H-C2100B. Can these drivers be used for quantum boards?
Also, how many boards and drivers to run 4x8 flood tables?

I had a 320H die, but then I have 7 other HLG running, a couple now for almost three years


It’s just a 260 304 board kit. For awhile I was running them at 260. Not too long ago I cranked all 3 of them up full blast.



Maybe I just keep having bad luck lol. We are the few who get the faulty drivers lol. Luckily I have an extra on hand just was wondering if it’s somethinf I’m doing wrong or just a strange coincidence.
And that’s what eventually happened to the last 2.

I want to run this at aleast 150 watts
This is a single board fixture so efficiency is not a issue.
Per suggestion from another forum I purchased this driver

So it seems it won’t drive the board @ 150 watts UNLESS I apply 200 volts ac input...
I run 120v ac so this is not gonna work.
( I’ll just add it to the pile of wrong drivers...)
I was thinking maybe a 200watt dimmable??
Any suggestions for a dimmable driver for this 288 board???

Wow who told you to buy a 220v ONLY driver if you're on 120? Shitty man. Return it if possible.

Thanks. I've 4 drivers over 14 months old and all are still going strong. I've only run them on full for one run though, the rest of the time they're on 75 - 80%.

Be interesting to hear whats causing it, hope you get it sorted.
