7 gallon fabric pot or 7 gallon plastic pot

Greetings once again everyone.

Im trying to finalise my pot size although im thinking in circles here again and really need some advice.

Tent 3x3x6H ( 250w MH Veg / 600w HPS Flower )
Base mix without amendments ( 1/3 pumice , 1/3 sphag peat , 1/3 EWC )

I can either acquire 4 x 7 gallon fabric pots with 5 gallons soil in each & about 1-2 gallons mulch or
4 x 7 gallon plastic pots with 7 gallons of soil & a small layer of mulch.

I would love to eventually upgrade and have atleast 4 x 10 gallon fabrics but that will come in the near future when my budget allows for it.

I guess the main question is what is more beneficial ? 7 gallons of soil in a plastic pot or 5 gallons and about 1-2 gallons of mulch in a 7 gallon fabric ? My worry is the soil in 7 gal fabrics will dry out too quick ?

Thank you !

Fabric pot sizes

7 Gallon / 26 Litres - Diameter 12.2" x 12.6" Height
with 5 gallons of soil height will be + - 10.6" allows for about 2" of mulch.

10 Gallon / 38 Litres - Diameter 16.1" x 13"
with 5 gallons height will be +- 6.2" way too low.

Both plastic and fabric seem to keep similar moisture levels in my tent, but I can lift the fabric and feel the bottom a bit easier where my plastic one the drain holes are to small for a finger check lol .

I switched to 7 gal root pouch pots years ago and wouldn't consider ever going back to plastic. They go through the wet dry cycle more, no possibility of rootbound , and obviously gets more air to the roots. Just be careful what brand you buy because there are lots of shitty quality fabric pots out there..

Cheers :)

Nice dude ! those look pretty sweet although these are the only ones 7 gals in stock around here and keen to get the soil cooking asap, was thinking of maybe trying 1 x 10 gal and 2 x 7 gals with 5 gal soil & 2 gal mulch but also thinking of just sticking to 4 x 7 gals !

4 7s would sit nicely in a 2x2 area and with mine being 2x4 that's what sold me. But you've got an extra sq ft than me. So 4 10s would still fit (2.5x2.5) but take up more floor space, so guess it depends if you need the floor space.

Yeah they will be quite a tight fit but should work out, bigger the better end of the day there will be minimal floor space though !

Doesn't hurt to maximise the space :p.
I had the assumption my tower fan was going to sit in the corner its base is about a sq ft. but it was to intense close up . So I stole my room fan and am using it as an exhaust fan for the time being . it is not ideal to say the least lol.
But yeah I'd go with 4 10s extra space for roots is never a bad thing from what I've read.
