lol that makes more sense. I thought 5BY5LEC was just commenting on the general tidiness of my room or that I'd damage the tent floor. Never thought about bringing something in. I haven't seen any bugs or any signs on the plants. It's winter and cold here and I don't use boots from outdoors inside. I could buy a pair of slippers and keep them in the room. Changing clothes every time I go in isn't really practical for me. I'm likely going to have some help with reservoir changes in the future so I'll make sure he's not wearing shoes either.

thanks for the tips.

Yeah. Just sayin cause bugs will mess you up bad (knock on wood), and it kind of think its something that creeps up on new growers, just because the initial signs of a problem are so slight and easily overlooked. Just easier to be paranoid about that aspect than worry.
If you got a good scope, scope the undersides of random fan leaves now and then. Get familiar with signs of pest like mites and thrips so you know what to look for.

She is growing in hydro which right off the bat greatly reduces the chances of most of the typical pests.

I used to have a multi site independent dwc operation. The res changes were brutal. Separate sites, it took almost 2 hours. I got sick of that nonsense pretty quick and turned to technology to spare my suffering. I had some sterilite totes that had the water farm blue hose grommet and 90 degree barb. On the inside of the tote i connected another hose to the 90 degree barb. On the other end of that hose i connected a cheap 20 dollar pump. When it was time to change the res, I connected a hose to the top of the blue tube via a ball switch and plugged the hose in. The hose then went to my tub. The water flowed effortlessly as I chilled. The ball valve was a nice feature that kept thing dry when switching totes. 4 pumps to save my back was a good deal to me, and that was with my bathroom being 15 feet away. To fill I connected my sink to the hose via a quick connect for a countertop dishwasher. It saves tonnes of time and despite feeling funny about saying it, I have to admit it had a pretty large impact on my happiness. I used to dread the res change and often put it off. Now I'm going the RDWC route and Ill only have to do it once.

GO LEAFS!

I guess I've been lucky so far. I haven't had a single issue with leaf discoloration or anything like that. I have one of those yellow sticky bug trap things hanging in the tent, which has been there since I started The only thing that's been caught in it is my hair. I probably should be more careful. I'd rather shut it all down than have bugs in the house.

We're going to try running two hoses to the laundry room tomorrow. to supply water for rinsing the buckets and another to pump out. I took down portions of the drop ceiling and it looks like we only have to drill three of the big struts or whatever you call them. The one above the laundry room door is two giant pieces of wood sandwiched together that run the width of the house. The drill bit only has 50mm depth. I couldn't find anything deeper at home depot so I think we're going to have to drill from both sides and hope it meets somewhere in the middle. I have two 75 foot hoses so I can do a straight run without having a connection somewhere in the ceiling that could possibly leak. I might be pumping out this weekend, but I have someone here to help do the heavy lifting if things don't go according plan.

@Thundercat that was one of the main reason I went hydro over soil or coco.

I think rdwc and a bit larger tent will be coming in very near future.

Good luck with the drilling, I'm not gonna lie that doesn't sound fun. But not lugging water will be sweet!

Those sticky traps work great for small spaces, just keep it at ground level at the top of the pots.
I have to drill a 2" hole through 10" thick brick wall to reach the gutter on the outside of the room.
Thinking of getting a plumber or someone with a decent drill to come do the job.

Take "we" with a grain of salt. I'll be pouring drinks and cheerleading from the sidelines. :) This is a little beyond my pay grade.

@ANC Thanks for that tip. I have it up high just above the light. I'll move it lower this weekend. And I'd definitely pay someone to drill through an outside wall. Don't you need air tools and water cooling for drilling brick?

Sorry to break it to you laughing grass but there are millions of bugs and their eggs in your house right now. Sterility isn't natural. There are tonnes of dust mites chomping on your dead skin right now.
Also be careful with moving your leds too close. I have mars hydro 2 16000w models and they make the leaves look orange with the light on. Looks more yellowish when in normal light. 24 inches is the recommended distance. BTW never buy from this company. There customer service is atrocious. I have 2 of the forementioned panels. They both have 2 dead rows of veg leds, its the h+/- circuit(ob both). The company did nothing but send nonsensical messages asking for a detailed description of the problem and asked for pictures. In the first of many emails i sent a very detailed description of the problem and gave several pictures. I told them it was the the circuit on the pcb as i tried the respective ballast driver on a separate circuit and it worked. I explained it was the PCB that was damaged and all they did was keep up with their requests for more pictures and a description of the problem. they offered me new leds but never talked about the printed circuit board like I stated was the actual problem. Avoid this company like the plague. They will simply stall you until your warranty runs out. I bought the panels from their website so they knew exactly when the warranty would run out. It's no exaggeration to say I HATE MARS HYDRO. Very expensive for a product that is no better than rubbish floating in the breeze. If I had to do it again i would buy cobs and drivers. I would have mounted the cobs on a piece of 6" rigid duct and put the drivers inside. This would have been cheaper and saved some heat issues that cropped up when connected to my ventilation system.

Anyway good luck dude. Keep growing your own and stay away from the governments criminal organization of cannabis producers. They are evil capitalists and I'm shocked at all the stories coming out already. We wanted legalization and they gave us an unconstitutional system instead.(equal benefit and privilege under the law). FUCK YOU trudeau!!!!!!

Struts=Studs. The thing above the laundry room door is a main beam. It transfers the load above to the studs below.
Get a bit that will go all the way through. It is hard AF to have two blind holes meet. If you do it, more power to ya.

So running the water lines was a colossal failure. The blade went dull half way through the second hole and started smoking more than cutting. I think this it’s made for thinner wood. Went back to home depot for advice and fell on ice outside the store and messed up my knee. Plan b has been implemented. I’m staying inside until spring comes.

Some updated pics from yesterday. One plant has stretched significantly more than all the others this week. I hope it stops soon. I can only move my light up another 8 inches. There’s hardly a hint of an odor when the tent is open. I kind of expected the smell to be stronger.

Man that sucks sorry you crashed, and the project didn't work out. On the plus side the plants look great! They are just getting going in flower now, give them a couple more weeks and you'll smell them upstairs :) if you leave it open.

I had high hopes and low expectations. Running hoses once a week is better than slugging buckets. My dad is in town next month and knows how to use power tools, I’m going to recruit him to help me finish. The swelling has gone down today, pretty sure this is going to leave a scar

I can’t wait for them to start stinking up the place. It’s a lot more fun now seeing significant changes every day. I’m kind of surprised I’ve made it this far without any major hiccups. It says a lot for the content on this site.

So I did my first change out this weekend using a pump. What a difference! It's not fast... takes about 10 minutes per bucket to empty, but I'm not in a rush. I also bought a gas siphon pump to move water from the ro tank to the buckets so I don't have to lift water anymore to fill or empty. I had some stands built for me so everything is at the same level now. The largest plant in the back left corner is now over 4 feet tall and I can't lift it anymore. It got a bit of heat stress from the light. There's enough room to move the lights up an additional 6 inches so hopefully it doesn't get much taller.
