Could a 2 liter coca cola plastic container be used as a cooltube?

On my last homemade cooltube I used Polycarbonate and it was a ton of work, if regular plastic isn't too lumen absorbent, could it be used as the main shell of a cooltube?

should the fan cooling a cool tube made from a soda bottle fail, I wouldn't want to be around it. Major fire hazard IMO.

Yep, Fire Hazard....

The DIY glass bake-a-round tubes are made to cook things in your oven, see the difference ?

What was the last cooltube you built ? I hope it was for a CFL bulb and not anything over 200 watts.

Yeah, just have a redundant AC set up blowing through it @50F and it should be fine.

$400 for AC
$2 for 2 liter bottle of soda.

or

$150 For fan
$80 for cool tube.

The general population is proof that common sense isn't.

Oh - this reminded me of something, I guess this is as good a place as any!

For anyone looking for a real Pyrex "Bake-a-round" - they still can be found, and you don't have to pay the $20. + shipping on E-Bay. A couple of weeks ago, I found one at a Salvation Army Thrift Store, still in the box for $2. - SCORE! You can find some really good "odd-ball" stuff in there, really cheap!
