How long is a tray taking to dry in that environment? still the normal 7-10 days?

Using trays would be so much easier for me, i got someone where i can put a tray and keep going circulation.

I wont need many, 4 plant harvest isnt gonna require many trays lol
You can often snag a few bread trays from behind a local convenience store. Just don't get caught lol

We've been over my washing process LOL

I chop it, clean it of fans, non-frosty leaf tips into the bubble-bag.
I weigh each limb cleaned, then let it hang.
I weigh it each day to monitor progress (and because I'm bored) and separate any nugs that are touching (bending the stems out)
After the leaf-parts I left are dry, and it feels safe to touch (3-5 days) I snip off all the small stuff and toss it in a bowl trimmer then on a rack.
The tops and any bigger nugs that are left near them I re-hang after hand trimming.
They get treated separate from that point because fatter dries slower - with a big harvest I might further separate the smaller nugs by size.

To check the rH I fill a jar about halfway then put in a hygrometer and seal it up for about a half hour out of the light.
rH gets to about 65-67% and I start the "cure". I keep Boveda 62% rH packs in any jar it is stored in, unless I am checking the humidity.

I just label the jars with a check-list calendar. If I put it in to cure today, it would have the 22nd through 28th for daily "burp" or more often. add days if needed, good way to keep track. when it feels dry to the touch right after opening the jar I'll add 4 more dates 7 days apart to check it (you won't wait that long) and after that 4 weeks it's cured

Yes we went over the weed washing already lol

When you harvest your plant, do you ever take the tops first and let everything else continue to finish up? or they all come down the same time? @Renfro this goes to you aswell, does that even make sense? lol

My concern is everything down lower is obviously very underdeveloped compared to the tops, id like to use that stuff for oil and edibles, so im wondering will it be good enough by the time the tops are done? or should/can i leave the bottoms of the plants to finish up

I could let the inner bottoms go longer but thats slowing me down on the next cycle. My girl gets all that larf, usually about 4 pounds. She makes all sorts of goodies with that stuff from bubble hash to edibles to salves.

If you have small buds that will fall thru the tray just line the tray with newspaper. It will wick moisture and not slow drying at all.

Properly grown bud. The cure is just breaking down chlorophyll, too much nitrogen in later flower makes for lots of chlorophyll. My nugs taste awesome so I don't need to bother with a cure. You know how you can smell weed? Well thats terpenes evaporating off, for me thats lost bad appeal. I get it in bags as soon as the stems break. Then poof, it's gone faster than I can blink an eye.

Not saying a cure couldn't make it a bit smoother but it would do so at the cost of terpenes. For me thats a no no. Plus theres money waiting. lol
Well im sorta following your N tapering regiment loosely, so hopefully i wont have any N buildup either. Or i will and ill learn for next time lol.

I honestly am looking to keep this drying part as simple as possible and not fk it up, your way seems very simple.

Yep, the stems slow down the drying a bit, so thats about all the cure I get lol.

Hey bro good job on ya grow ,
Hey bud, thanks alot

Would love your input as well if you have the time. You obviously grow fire and must have a few tricks or methods when it comes to chopping/drying/curing lol

Got an allstar lineup in here giving help and encouragement, how can i fk this up lol

Once some of the smaller buds are dry, smoke them and see what you think. If you wanna cure it you can place the buds in a jar with boveda 62 packs and them re-moisten to 62% and cure. Putting a fan leaf or two in the jar will help raise the moisture level to the spongy stage. Common mistake is to put the buds in a jar while the stems still have too much moisture in them, that can cause mold if you aren't on it.

Ok so the larf dont need to be as finished as the tops to still be usable for BHO and edibles?

For some reason i was thinking the buds down lower would need longer to finish up before they would be good/potent enough to use for BHO and edibles.

That changes things if its all good, ill chop them all at the base once the majority is finished. lol

I think the differences you'll see is based on goals. I grow for me - period.

"Once it's dry it gets the hand trim and into bags it goes, and poof it's gone. lol " tells me the @Renfro has 'other' goals :)

After it is dry, you'll get the best high. If curing is done right, it makes it better. I have mine in hermetically sealed stainless containers. Light getting into jars will degrade THC, so keep it dark if that is your storage method.

Ya this is what im trying to avoid.

Id prefer to not worry about mold.

How do you store your own weed? you using jars and boveda packs for storage?

I don't even cure my stash bud, you should try some. I had some that I cured and some that I didn't. I let my buddy smoke them both and he couldn't tell a difference other than the cured lost a little of the aroma. That said there are many ways to skin a cat, I suggest all new growers try different methods and see how the results please their palate.

I store in the quart mason jars. I mostly just smoke the bubble hash my girl makes and pretty much let the rest of the flower go. Maybe save a zip for sharing with people when they come by. lol

The boveda works good if you like a little moisture in the bud, I prefer mine crumbly dry as it burns better in a joint or blunt, not always going out. The boveda is to keep enough moisture that cure can take place. I don't have any boveda around here anymore.

Ya this is all for me. So time isnt an issue.

I have just read so many threads with guys totally messing up entire crops by drying to fast or getting mold on the cure. I want to avoid these things if at all possible lol.

I do think my long term storage will probably be in jars anyway, so curing 1 or 2 plants mighten be a bad idea, not cure the other 2 , as renfro said, try every way out, find which fits my style.

I have an Excalibur dehydrator with a bunch of racks, and I have used that. Just for it to dry, never turned it on ;)
The mesh drying racks are good too.

My thing with racks is that as they dry, stuff falls off. Good stuff. And I save EVERYTHING!!! so I got some of the silicon-ized sheets that go in a dehydrator (like for fruit roll-ups) and cut one sheet to fit on the bottom rack of my "tiered" mesh drying rack.

I see where @Renfro is coming from with the racks vs hanging. I'm not selling it, I don't care what it looks like, but I still want to treat it gently. That's why I go with the mixed method. All the pretty tops get treated special, and are the ones brought out to impress company :) Anything besides tops is what I smoke first. My stash always looks impressive LOL
