Co2 ?

Home brewing store and big liquor stores. People use CO2 with store bought kegs at home and they use CO2 to carbonate their homemade beer - both root beer and real beer.

For refills, I bring my tank into a fire extinguisher sales place to get it refilled (they sell tanks too, but they were very pricey). If they think I'm up to something strange they never let on in the least.

yea ive been calling.. i called the brew store and they have a 10lb tank for 149 bucks..is 10lb enough?

I also called the welding supply and you can lease a 50lb one for 99 years for 250 bucks. is this pretty standard?

How big of a room are you running? For my little cab, a 10 pounder lasts for my entire flower cycle.

doesn't sound like it would be. Check up on the sticky posts. there is a thread on a CO2 calculator. That should tell you how much CO2 you will need for your room & how fast you will go thru it, so you can then judge what size tank you need.

8x8x8 room a 10 pounder is only going to last a week or 2. you need the big 50 pounder, a regulator and a solenoid driven valve on a timer. you must have all 3 things for it to work correctly. Your also going to need some tubing and will fill the room by releasing the gas from the top of the room. CO2 is heavier than air and will work its way down, this must all be timed to achieve 1500-1600 PPM levels during lights on. Do not use CO2 while lights are off.

Mr. Bigbud! Busy with real life, you know how it goes. Spending lots of time on the road with just a work computer so I can't surf everywhere I'd like to. Home for the most part now and back to tweaking the cab.

First Class?!?!?!? I'm happy if the person next to me doesn't overflow into my seat with their gigantic ass and they aren't eating a fish and cheese sandwich. It's getting rough out there, lol.

I'm glad you get a break this weekend. Too much road work will do a person in.

CO2 Calculator

Here is the link to the CO2 calculator. Easy enough to figure out--will even let you know how long your tank will last.

If it were me.... I would go with one 20lb for now and add on a 20lb later. Try to get aluminum tanks if you can... every little bit helps to keep the weight down. I'd be cautious about the 50lb tank--that would be a real bitch to have refilled, unless they have home service? Which you wouldn't be able to use anyway...

With two 20lbs you can get the dual CO2 regulator and switch to a full tank when the other runs out... gives you plenty of time to get it filled.

Also, I run a CAP Gen-1 CO2 generator with a 20lb propane tank. Knowing what I know now... I would definitely go with the CO2 tanks over the generator. The generator puts off WAY too much heat and moisture (especially since you want a sealed room)... throw in a dehumidifier and the temp skyrockets while fixing humidity! Fuck, now you need an A/C unit!! Ok.. that's my story anyway!

Go with the tanks! Compressed air (read CO2) comes out of the tank nice and cool!

Doubt you would need to dump the CO2 from the ceiling. Yes, it is heavier than air. How many of you have played with dry ice, and watched the vapors settle? The slightest breeze will sufficiently dispurse the CO2 effectively. Assuming you have at least one fan... you should be fine!

You have a grow journal up and running? Would love to see!
