Is there a reason that they should be lose? Should he try to cover the small hole with something, I plan on doing something similar with the lid.just don't snap them down, leave them loosely on there and they should be fine
I was thinking just for some gas exchange and just to avoid any mishaps should you need to move the lid at all during the grow, unsnapping those things can get a little forceful lol. but by all means, snap it down if you wishIs there a reason that they should be lose? It's cool, I'm just trying to learn something. I need all the help that I can get lol...I was thinking just for some gas exchange and just to avoid any mishaps should you need to move the lid at all during the grow, unsnapping those things can get a little forceful lol. but by all means, snap it down if you wish
you must use a lid in order to maintain the moisture of your upper soil horizon. the lid inhibits evaporation of water and forms condensation on the underside, which drips back down into the soil, carrying oxygen with it!I'm new to sips, too. I guess I should ask if there are any pros or cons to even using a lid.
Wow, thank you.you must use a lid in order to maintain the moisture of your upper soil horizon. the lid inhibits evaporation of water and forms condensation on the underside, which drips back down into the soil, carrying oxygen with it!
Great idea! I'm also going to foil tape the lids, so that will cover up the slit.I'd cut a slit to the edge to make removal easier.
Thank you for the link. The cover or mulch is very important, if u work in sip maybe u will grow true organic (no bottle nutrients) ? So if u are growing organic the cover is something u can't skip because you are interested in micro life and micro life need dark and shady and moist place for thrive.

The last video that I watched with Alan Adkisson was talking about frogs living in his pots. So, I imagine that it is not an air tight seal for the cover. He just didn't explain everything in his videos.you must use a lid in order to maintain the moisture of your upper soil horizon. the lid inhibits evaporation of water and forms condensation on the underside, which drips back down into the soil, carrying oxygen with it!
I watched that video as well. Really cool stuff. Hes got him self a bunch of guard frogs to eat all the insects. The last video that I watched with Alan Adkisson was talking about frogs living in his pots. Yeah I was gonna say once the plants mature that lid is going to locked between your branches and the pot...feel like you'd definitely rather have a cover that can wrap around and be removedI'd cut a slit to the edge to make removal easier.
you can really use whatever you want but I have seen some AMAZING results with a layer of bokashi on top and will be trying that next up covered in straw ( I use just straw on my all organic SIPs now) Come on over to the SIP thread and join up!Can I use straw on the soil? Does it have to be something like a bag or a cover?
I will definitely check out the SIP thread.you can really use whatever you want but I have seen some AMAZING results with a layer of bokashi on top and will be trying that next up covered in straw ( I use just straw on my all organic SIPs now) Come on over to the SIP thread and join up!
