Should i go with 6 0f the 3059 crees 50watt each or hlg 550 lm301b.trying to get rhe most out of my 4x4 tent... Im not new to growing just new to led . .. ............ .....Thank you in advanced

Yikes! $800 to replace a $125 HPS. I'm not saying the LED's listed are not good. I'm just pointing out the price difference to get the same result. The cost for quality LED's is what's keeping me from using them. I can afford to buy them but why? I'd rather keep the money in my pocket if I'm getting the same result. I have very cheap electricity which is another factor.

the HLG lamps would actually cost $1600, note the x2. having said that you could DIY the same thing for about $600.

i agree with you. my view on DIY LED is similar to my view on recirculating hydro and other "advanced" techniques. cool hobbies. absolutely not necessary.

ready to hang LED is ridiculously overpriced in most cases i think we can all agree on that.

Dang! I taut the hlg550 was supposed to cover 4x4 in flower! Then I read on another forum that 6 cobs 50w each is the same as hlg550!...I know that LEDs cost a lot but I'm trying to stay away from HP's heat and electric spike on my electric bill... That's y I don't mind spending on led....just wanted good advice...I'm not to technical when it comes to diy.

The HLG600 from growers lights is considerably cheaper than the HLG550, its much the same light but the 600 is slightly more wattage and you only get a 1year warranty vs the 3 year on the 550.
One is a kit, the other pre made.

Something to consider.

Or a 600-1000w hps
or a 630cmh.

Or hortibloom are doing damn good prices on cree3590 cob fixtures at the moment.
Or DIY with Samsung or bridgelux strips.

300w of Cree COB is no where near the output of a HLG 550. Its about the same as a HLG260w kit.
 
Dam.....killing my led dreams! I Guess its gonna be the 550.... Wish I knew how to diy...but its too technical..... Thanks for your advice...hopefully the 550 will get me at least 1lb in the end....
 
What about 2 of these from hortibloom
LUMA B4 COB LED Grow Bar with citizen 12/12....will this do justice for my 4x4 tent?

It’s not that technical at all. It’s quite easy to figure out. Chose your driver. And then chose your strips. Find out how many volts your strips take and then how many max volts the driver does. That’ll tell you how many strips to use.
 
Lead me in the right direction thank you.!.....got $600 to spent on lights for a 4x4 set up.....i already got the tent... Fabric pots, coco coir, carbon filter inline fan, ph perfect coco 3 part, dehumidifier ...will try diy if it dont cost more that my light budget...is those alibaba hlg550 any good or are they a rip off? can get one for $400 shipping included. ( i know u prob gonna say they aint shizzle) just wanted ur opinion.... Im def getting led... But dont want to be ripped off..... So if u can lead me to a link that isnt too expensive i would appreciate it...... Ps i did months of research but theres nothing like getting advice directly from the pros.
 
Order your driver from digi key. Order your strips from digi key. Go with a HLG 550 or 600. And then just buy your strips. May need a heat sink for that many.

Yes two of those at 240w each would do nice.

Don't be afraid to go DIY strip or Board build. Its really no more difficult than wiring a plug.

Also the Alibaba clone lights will grow well, the question remains as to if the diodes are what they say on the tin.
Plenty of people using them though. Go with companies that have been used before. There are threads about the Chinese boards, just use the search engine.
Anything on Ali is buyer beware.
 
Thank you very much....you seem to be very knowledgeable when it comes to led...so its either 2 of the luma b4 or hlg550 ....I'm like looking up the diy from digikey...still confused but I'm gonna try
