My fault,a pinched nerve, neck, shoulder or right arm & tingling and numbness in my pinky finger has me hastily taking pics.Forgot my side view,if it'll DQ me,I'll go to the spot and snatch her outta the night cycle to snap a pic.Wont hurt her at all.She will be axed soon.
Nah, I'm not calling you out. I just want to see the whole plant. If you get around to it, I will look at it. If you don't - oh, well. No problemo.

Why would this plant look like this, leaves fading yellow with purple veins 20190407_214809.jpg and this plant look like this, healthy as they get???
Over n over again no matter what chanfes made. 20190407_214816.jpg
Just 1 example of many .
Grow pounders n tell me you have different results in coco?
Sure, small plants seam to do ok but big ones are different & some just shit the bed under warm white added red especially.
Cobs , white are the worst for me & not knowi g what strains will do well & what ones will cost me your trailer 10x over in one yr. Is enough in itself to make me blow this whole shit right outta the water. IDGAF!!!!!!!!:finger:>:(:fire::wall::confused:

it's just a couple leaves, the plant looks fine to me. some plants give up fan leaves at different times

I wish bro. Not my first rodeo. Been deali g with this for 2 yrs continuously thinking im doing something wrong. Ruining good plants tryin g to fix bad ones u der led. Losing so much u would cry.
Some come out outstanding & that kept me going but i just dont know why.

I'm seeing the same purpling on my one strain, but I don't see this having any significant impact on the overall health of the plant. It could just be a strain specific sign of leaf maturity. Then again, you must be being sarcastic.

You guys can get all butthurt at what brother @hybridway2 is saying but that doesn't change the fact he is speaking truth.
Just look at the struggle HLG's own shining star is having trying to get plants on point, one issue after the other even with the guidance of the top led "professionals".

Just listen for yourself at about 3:35 and it's not just ph or the issue would have fully cleared several crops ago

And another q, am I the only non-hydro quasi organic grower that uses one of these?

Never more than 1600ppm, around 6 ph.
Yeah, I've seen it and have it on my wishlist cause I'm switching to coco DTW and plan to run an external 15gal res. Is it worth it? Have found it for ~80$ (70€) on e3ay but with mixed reviews. Some praise it, others complain about dry PH electrodes. What do you think about it? Are replacement electrodes available in case you need a new one. Looks like the EC electrode is not changable(at least without opening the case) but they usually last much longer.

How high are the humidity and ambient temps in your groom?
I still believe these purpleing on the stems/leaf stems has to do with a high VPD(too low humidity) and an overexcited photosynthesis system I usually found under white LED with almost no far-red.

Thru the high VPD you force the plant to take up more nutes and especially calcium is problematic. Calcium can lock out phosphor and magnesium in case they take up to much. This would cause purpleling. And in the video they have mentioned calmag can make is even more worse because it contains even more calcium. They have recommended to use 1-1,5g epsom salt per galone to get the magnesium up because they have found out plants with overexcited PS-I need more magnesium.
The imballance between the 2 systems is cause by missing far-red.(see pdf below) So we can fix it..
If you for instance use extra far-red or CRI90 it helps to keep the 2 photosynthesis systems in ballance.
No overexcited PS-I should mean less or better normal magnesium demands if that's what they say is true.

So 1st thing I would change is the humidity. With 27-29°C you need 70-75% in veg, 60-65% in early bloom and 50-55% in the 2nd have of the bloom stage. This results in 0,6-0,8kpa(veg), 1-1,2kpa(1st half) and 1,4-1,6kpa(2nd half) and with this values you are on the safe side.
2nd thing you can try is to add more far-red. 3000°k + deep red cause even more overexciting on PS-I cause you have lots of red compared to almost no far-red. Shit on the 4" more stretch you get when using it the stem diameters remain the same therefor they finish ealier without significant yield loss cause a ballanced out PS system will also increase yield.(a certain amount of far-red drives the emerson effect)

Both should help to avoid these unnatural looking purple stems as good as possible. Maybe not with all strains but at least with no purple strains. My girl has the purple leaf stems since week 3 but nothing on the veins or main stems. And because she is still nice green and healthy I think its in her genetic. Todays strains are crossed many times and they all have more or less purple genetic. The other two plants show exactly the same but growth rates are not affected. They are a week behind No1 but that's because I've repotted them pretty late as I've choosed No1 to be my favorite.
As long as you see no additioal yellowing because of a Mg deficit the purpleling should not have bad effects on yield. With additional yellowing you can almost be sure its a Mg lock out caused by too much calcium. And if this goes further phosphor and other metals gets locked out too. This affects yield!

We have already talked about the topic and it's still not 100% clear why and what but with a siutable VPD and CRI90 it seems less problematic.
@The Dawg you have used CRI80 and 90 many times, do you remember getting less purple veins or less mg issues with CRI90 compared to CRI80?

On this strain it's definately genetic. Only leaf petioles are reddish-purple, veins and stems not and she is healthy as a plant can be and shows no deficits at all. VPD was almost always in a healthy range and I'm pretty sure the 1850°k full spectrum strips in my light mix have some additional far-red too.

The Dawg knows nothing. Dont waste ur time. Ive been testing theories to defeat this problem for 2 yrs.
My vdp is on point this time.
Some of my worst issues were under the 3k, 90cri QB.
From my tons of experience with this, im seeing less problems when there is some high K added to the spectrum. The blue prevents it. My MH actually cures the purple stem in veg but once flower starts there is no reversing it. Only riding it out. I was licky enough to stabilize it last run around week 5.5-6 & pull decent stuff.
Also its not all strains but thats nothing to get cheery about. A loss is a loss & we buy led for gains only.
Back to work, thnx for discussing. Thinking we should start another thread about this & really put some good heads together.
For those who dont believe, try growing.
