Anyone have experience taking plants from 18hrs of light and planting out this time of year (spring)?

Can I do it now or will they reveg late into flower?

Longest day of the year is 14hrs 15min here. The lattitude is 33 N.

Sun rise to sun set gives you 14hrs.
In reality their is enough light 1hr before and after sun rise/set.

As far as having to have 18hrs of light out side. According to sun rise to sun set you would have to be almost in Alaska to get that.

I am round the 50-51*N. and we get the longest day of approximately 16hrs of light. Pretty much have to run autos outdoors here. Photos never finish out side before frost and snow. (Fuck it’s snowing right now)

In fact some of the best outdoor Cannabis growing is California Area. Ranging from 34-40*N.
getting a max of 14-15hrs day light on the longest day of the year.

If you plant outdoor a few weeks after last frost you should be fine with a photo.

I really tried to understand. Do you want them to flower now or do you want them to veg as the days get longer and flower in the fall as normal? Maybe I'm a little foggy this morning, but why would you think they would reveg? Obviously they need to be in flowering first for them to reveg...

Edit...OK OK...I think I got it. You are afraid that the WILL flower now and then reveg as days get longer and then have to go back into flower? Is that right? I think they'll be ok.

If you are talking about taking plants that have vegged under 18/6 lighting schedule and then putting them outside to a 14 hour light schedule then yes they may start flowering from the sudden decrease in light hours per day. I veg under 24 hours (big difference to 18/6) and put my plants outdoors at the start of summer (roughly 16 hours of sunlight hours) and they flowered and kept flowering to the end. If i was to do this again i would slowly decrease light hours over a matter of weeks until i have matched the outside daylight hours. Also dont put them straight out in direct sunlight as youll possibly get light burn from the suns intense rays. Put them in a shady spot and slowly give them more direct sunlight hours.

I have put 24/0 vegged 3-4 week seedlings our in 15-16 hrs light outside. Not one even attempted to flower. In end of August they started to flower. But had to finish indoors as we get frost by mid September

A sudden drop in lighting hours CAN trigger the flowering hormone. Dark hours do not have to be 12. It is what we have found as an optimal balance for hormone release (during dark hours) and photosynthesis during light hours. The plant will be alot more sensitive to a drop in light hours when vegging under 24 hours of light imo.

I put plants out in direct sunlight against the white siding on the house. Never had a plant do anything but pray to the sun and be happy.

Even 7day from seed. No issue.

And your “google search” is nothing more then a screen shot of another forum. Hold about as much solid evidence as this thread.

Not to mention it’s a reference to clones not seedlings.

Maybe your outdoor light intensity isnt as intense as mine in summer? I have grown seeds indoors and put them outdoors after about a week with no issues. I have vegged from seed and clone for anywhere between 4 weeks to 8 weeks and put them out in direct sunlight at the start of summer. (About 16 hours of sunlight) 16 plants in total. ALL of them flowered and flowered right through. I personally thought they would reveg as the daylight hours were getting slightly longer. They didnt. They also got quite bad light burn which really affected their growth through the stretch. I think off memory i had 4 different strains so it wasnt strain dependant. Im not going to argue with you Bookush, This was what DID happen to me. Be very careful NirvanaMesa thats all im going to say.

I am doing 2 harvests guys. Thats the plan at least, this one is the cheater harvest. I put the plants outside now and need them to finish before the longest days of summer. I think it will work. I put them under a lamp with 14hrs on out in my greenhouse. The days only get to 14hrs 15min longest day of the year here.

So I just did the switch and am planning on harvest around June.

Then I will put out more plants and harvest in October.

My plants under COBs transiition to full sun easily. Way better than other lamps. Hopefully it is making sense for you guys now. I dont want my plants to reveg as the days get longer. I am hacking it a little using a lamp at beginning and end of day now to keep it 14hrs through this whole flower.

Thanks thats perfect. I hope my flower can work here with 14hrs. Next time I do this, I want to get them out a little earlier in the year and use 20hrs inside before moving to 14hrs.

i am under COBs as well. Maybe that’s the difference?
Not having any issues going to full sun outdoors.

Light burn does happen. Depends on what lamps they were under and then how intense the sun is outside and how hot and how humid, how windy, etc. Plants absolutely need proper acclimation when being moved.
