How long can a male stay with a female before it pollinates her. I have heard the male pollen will be ready before the females. What I want to do is leave the male with the female and take him out before he pollenates her. I'll put him as close to 12-12 as I can get in cramped area until I can get pollen. Anyone know how long it might be out of the main tent. Also if the light is not strong enough or not 12-12 will he go back to veg

I'm a little confused, do you want him to pollinate the females for seeds or are you asking is there enough time to catch males before they can pollinate. You will be able to tell the sex of the plant before pollen sacs form or before female flowers form, it don't all happen over night. Once your plants are in 12/12 light cycle they start to flower in about 7 days or so, and if you took the plant out after say 7-10 of 12/12 and changed the light cycle to 18/6 again ya it would return to veg. You'll have 2 weeks or so into flower before he get pollen, and the females are even ready to be pollinated.

Him i'm guessing you don't live in a legal place, or i'd say move the male outside with a female or female clone and breed outside. Do you have any other light? Get a Big trash can and trim the male up, as long as you got a few branches he will grow balls and place it in the can with a light, then put a lid on when the light goes out. Then you could collect pollen in a baggie, add a little water so it don't fly around like dust, use a Q-tip and pollinate a plant or couple branches you wanna be careful tho. Growing seeds will take some energy out of the plant thats why i say maybe pollinate a plant or clone

Ah summer or warm weather has yet to reach you also eh. Ya your florescent light would probably be good enough you don't need every branch on the plant just enough to grow pollen sacs, good luck.

Most growers seem to make wind tunnels not plesant sunny days and thats why they seed their whole grow.
Most of the bud isnt formed in the first two weeks anyway so not that much a danger and mainly just the bud around it will lightly sweed if you get it right.

Take your male well away from the females. Even if you have to set him on the kitchen table, make sure he is a safe distance. You can use light dep to keep it in flower. {that is blocking the light with a tarp, blanket or something after 12 hours} When the balls are just about ready to burst, cut a limb and place in a glass of water, but so the pollen will fall down onto some freezer paper of something like that. Once you collect the pollen, separate it from all the plant material, let it dry for a couple of days, then mix with rice and put in the freezer. {and get rid of the male at this point}
Once the females start showing hairs, paint a bud or two using a q-tip. You can cover the bud with a ziplock, then spray the rest of the plant down with water to kill loose pollen.

A lot of us growers dont make a lot of wind and hence can just leave in the tent till pollen shows. The wind speed we need is well below pollen take off point
