Ac Size

What's up. I'm going to get a window ac tomorrow, but I'm not 100% on which size to get.

Total room size is 250 sqft, my grow area is 40ish sq ft.

Lights - 250ish watts on veg side, 800 watts on flower side. Also have 4 drivers on flower side.

70 pint dehuy, prolly oversized, but was necessary with the portable ac I'm running now, the 30 wasnt cutting it.

Thinking either 12 or 14k. I'm running a 14k dual hose portable now and it works, but its tossing air out of the room via any opening in the unit, not very efficient. What size would you go with?

You aren't gonna need much for that sorta wattage, most of the heat load will depend on the outside temps, insulation and how hot the room would get without a grow in the summer.

Sounds like the one ton unit would work fine. If you get much bigger you are gonna need 220v power anyways.

the window a/c units work much better than those "portable A/c" units from my experience
and like ren said, if the outside of your chamber is hotter than the inside, u may want to insulate and air seal first

i could picture a window a/c unit installed in a wall and on the outside have a drain pan, a circulating fan, and an open window to alleviate any heat gain.

Appreciate it man. I was thinking the 12k would be fine, but I didn't wanna get it, box it up, and then it be undersized.

I'd love to seal everything up, but that's just not practical in this situation. I am looking into building a sealed room elsewhere, and moving everything when it is finished, thats still some time away though.

The plan is actually box up the ac intake/exhaust and throw a 6" fan on it to pull the heat out. If I had a way to put the dehuy in there I'd be doing what you're saying, could even use like a 6 or 8k then.
