Sorry if my questions have been gone over. I wish I had time to go thru the thread thoroughly.
My wife is epileptic and my kid has bad ptsd. I've dealt with phsychosis(I probably spelt that wrong) for a year at a whack. It's almost ruined my family.
I got 3 awesome kids but they go thru a lot with their mom being sick so much.
With that being said I'm trying to grow her meds. I've got a few things going and I'm wondering if I take pollen from a CBD male and pollinated a female of let's say ecto cooler cross or something will it have at least some sort of CBD in the offspring?
I'm in an illegal state so testing levels would be tricky but I guess possible if needed.
Im just hoping I can get something that helps her going soon.
I've had about enough of fighting with doctors over pills that make her worse.
The higher CBD will pass along with the same probability as any other heritable trait. This means that in the absence of analytical testing, you'll have to just smoke through the progeny to find the plant which expresses the CBD in appreciable amount. So in short, yes, there will be offspring that express more CBD than the starting (lower CBD) female.

I would suggest buying some CBD rich seeds that have already been worked to ensure you'll find higher than average CBD progeny in the pack.

I have heard of this being an option, but have never really looked into it: If you do not have a CBD rich male from which to collect pollen, you might be able to find some natural, non-irradiated whole hemp seed at health food stores (maybe even some blends of bird seed) that you can germinate and attempt higher CBD crosses with. While there is no guarantee that the hemp seeds are super rich in CBD (industrial hemp is bred more for stalk fiber), hemp tends to have higher CBD than the more THC rich plant seeds you buy from seed banks.

Ok great. I've got some naked lady from high Alpine genetics some others I can't remember lol
I got a freebie of Perkins cut x cannatonic 4 as well from dcse.
I'm eager to find the perfect balance for her.
We had some blue dream that helped her alot and she loved it but I haven't ran into the same pheno or anything like that.
My last run was all bag seed and all hermied ugh lol no surprise though.
They where seeds I sourced from a buddy.

@DonBrennon what can you tell me about the seeds that aren't pineapple express??? And thanks again...
Cackleberry(Greenpoint) x Space Monkey(Bodhi) - Expect sativa dom polyhybrids with true hybrid vigour. Responds well to topping and puts on 1.5-2 ft of stretch after flip, so better to flower small mutli-topped bushes. The few that have been grown out have proven to be very potent, giving good yields of medium sized buds which are rock hard. Terps are loud, but hard to pin down, with Cherry diesel, Stardawg, Gorilla glue and wookie genetics in there, it's probably understandable. (8-9 week flower)

Space Monkey S1 - These will mainly be indica dom hybrids with the odd sativa pheno showing up(The Wookie seems to dominate in this X's plant structure). Smells/tastes that dominate are grapefruit, lavender and floral cleaning product, doesn't sound too appealing, but I love it. Flowering is around 8-10 weeks, with the buds really swelling up the last 2 weeks, so let em'go if they need to.

Cackleberry x (SSDD x Fat Purple) - Untested, but should produce some very interesting plants. It's likely they'll also need a couple of feet to stretch into after flip. Terps 'should' be a mix of fruity and fuel.

Hope this helpsbongsmilie

I do enjoy the more offensive side of the palette. I’m struck by the plants that have smells you wouldn’t necessarily associate with plants. Fruity strains are great, but fruit are just other plants, so it’s not a wild leap to say, “here’s a plant that smells like another plant”. On the other hand, when I come across a plant that smells like bacterial/fungal infection, spoiled dairy, or hot asphalt it really pings my interest into the complexities of the plant. It also adds to the “attitude” of a particular cut.

This’ll sound weird, but I like to think of anthropomorphizing strains and visualizing them as a character. So if cannabis was a high school, the skunks, diesels, and chems would be cutting class doing donuts in their Trans Am in the parking lot blaring Megadeth, while the “mass appeal” fruity cuts are in class trying to make honor roll.
You crack me up, I love that metalhead analogy!. I too am a fan of loud dankness, fruity only if fermenting. I am always looking for ways to increase it,

Agreed. You can increase terpene production by removing or damaging leaves to simulate an animal eating the plant (it doesn’t know the difference) as the terpenes can serve to repel any potential threats. The plants think they are just trying to deter hungry fauna. I don’t know if the terpene production is worth the trade-off of mutilating the plant, might be the subject of a future side-by-side.
I wasn’t really thinking about stimulating those scent hormones through stress, I have played with that idea plenty & abandoned the idea, besides purposely stressing the plants stressed me too.

I meant more like experimenting with plant hormone stimulating acids like:

Jasmonics, Auxins, Gibberellins, Cytokinins,
Isoprene
Fulvic Acid

I think Terpinator might be using some of those acids along with the Potassium Sulfate.

Fun trying to figure it out, or is that weird too....

Harlequin and Harlequin crosses are known to be exceptionaly high in CBD if you are looking for strain specific high CBD plants. I hope you find something that works for you and the family.

Thanks it's been rugged. The state I live in is medically legal but the prices are ridiculous and the quality is horrible.
I had my wife off of 19 pills which took a year and a half to do. Oh and depakote destroyed her teeth in a year ugh.
But with the prices around here we've had to put her back on 2 pills. Thankfully the doctors are finally listening to me.
But while my wife was in pyschosis my kids ex broke in and kidnapped her. Now she's got very bad ptsd.
I'm just glad both these ladies are still with me and the 2 boys.

They are in the process of pushing thru a bill to allow home cultivation for med card holders so hopefully that goes thru soon. Either way I'm making her meds.
Pills like SSRIs are a nightmare and I hate them and what they've done to my family.

Some people find a balanced 1:1 CBD:THC ratio works better, while others prefer 10:1, so you'll just have to keep trying them out until you find the cut that works the best for her chemistry. Good luck on your search.
Thank you so much.

Your right about the balance. I think I need a 1:1 to much THC and it doesn't work as well for her. All CBD is not enough for her.
My daughter has had great luck with just CBD.
It's crazy that this plant can do so much good yet it's still illegal in some areas.

Thank you, it takes a few whacks at smoking/smelling samples for me to go from general descriptive words to more specific. For instance, I’d start with a sample and the description “plasticky” would immediately come to mind. But there is a better way to describe it since there are different types of plasticky smells, so I’ll keep smelling it until I run through different types of plastic or if particular memories are associated with the smell until I can narrow it down from “plasticky” to the smell of freshly opened dollar store inflatable pool toys.

The smells and tastes they'll have are what really makes me love a particular strain. The odd rare raunchier ones also pique my interest similar to the reasons you'd mentioned.
Love that high school analogy. Hahaha
I'll hang in the TA and do donuts to Megadeth with ya brotha.

Daaaaammmnnnn!!! You are really going through it my friend... It takes a strong and dedicated man to stand in there and fight the good fight... There should be an exemption of some sort for you...

Thanks man. I wish I was making all of it up ugh.
The truth is I left out stuff.
Thanks again it means a lot.
Unfortunately in my situation I don't get the regcognition I probably should.

STSLOGOFINAL2.jpg mats.jpg
Materials:
Silver Nitrate (AgNO3)
Sodium Thiosulfate or Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate (Na2S2O3 or Na2S2O3-5H2O)
Distilled water
Gloves
Mask
Containers
Spray bottle
Volume measuring device
Scale

We will be preparing 2 separate solutions that will be mixed later for spraying.
:!:Labeling your containers with A and B before will help to keep them from being confused.

:!:Wear the gloves throughout the preparation and application of STS, and wear the mask during the spray application of STS.

SOLUTION A – Silver Nitrate
SOLA.jpg
1) Mass 1.7g of Silver Nitrate, and add this to your container labeled A (pic 1,2)

:!:Be careful when handling the Silver Nitrate as it can stain your skin.

2) Add 100mL of distilled water to container A (pic 3).

3) Agitate the mixture until the Silver Nitrate dissolves.

:!:Do not use metal objects to stir this solution (you can use plastic spoons, straws, or glass)

4) Store Solution A in a dark bottle or in a bag, and keep it in a dark place until needed for mixing STS spray solution (pic 4).

SOLUTION B – Sodium Thiosulfate
SOLB.jpg
:!::!:TAKE NOTE OF WHICH SODIUM THIOSULFATE COMPOUND YOU HAVE: EITHER SODIUM THIOSULFATE OR SODIUM THIOSULFATE PENTAHYDRATE! The only difference between the two is that one has water in the compound that can throw off the concentrations of our target solution if no tweak to the mass is made.

5) Mass either: 6.32g Sodium Thiosulfate OR 9.92g Sodium Thiosulfate Pentahydrate and add this to your container labeled B (pic 5,6).

6) Add 400mL of distilled water to container B (pic 7).

7) Agitate the mixture until the Sodium Thiosulfate dissolves.

:!:This mixture does not need to be protected from light (pic 8). Both mixtures can be stored for long periods of time and mixed when needed for reversal.

Preparation of STS
STSspray.jpg
We will be mixing an amount of Solution A and Solution B to create the Silver Thiosulfate. It is very important to note:
:!:WE MUST ADD SOLUTION-A TO SOLUTION-B WHEN MIXING.

To create a stock solution of STS, we will need a ratio of [1partA : 4partsB]. You can tailor your volume to make only what you will need for your spraying application.

For the purposes of this example, I will prepare a stock solution of specific volume:

8) Add 5mL of Solution A to 20mL of Solution B. You now have a stock solution of Silver Thiosulfate (STS) (pic 9).

:!:The STS solution is not very stable, so it is best to only prepare what you will be using for one round of spraying.

Dilution of STS for Spray Application

Depending on the particular plant you would like to reverse, you may need stronger/weaker STS spray. You can use 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, etc. ratios of STS:Water.

I will be using a 1:2 ratio and make any adjustments based on how the plant is responding.

9) Since we have 25mL of STS prepared, we can add 50mL of distilled water (pic 10). We now have 1:2 STS reversal spray solution. Add this mixture to your spray bottle if you mixed in a different container (pic 11).

Application of STS
STSapp.jpg
:!:You could spray a target female while in the growing space around other plants (assuming you get no spray on any other plants) with success, but we will remove the target female and segregate her for spraying.

10) Place a drop cloth, cardboard, or cover under the female to keep overspray contained. This also has the effect of shielding the soil from STS overspray (pic 12).

11) Spray the female liberally, either as with any foliar spray application or targeting only nodes. I have chosen to spray the entire plant (pic 13,14).

12) Allow the female to dry before returning her to the growing space.

You will repeat the STS spray application every 7-10 days until you observe the development of male parts. This means there will only need to be 2-3 applications of the STS spray for successful reversal and collection of pollen.

:!:The female will take about 2 weeks to show the fruits of reversal. Some suggest to begin the spraying 2 weeks in advance of flower to keep her closer to a schedule seen with males. For this plant, I will be spraying at the start of flip.

Here is the Chemdog’91(skva) progressing through the reversal process, culminating in harvestable pollen around day 29.
reversal progress1.jpg

REVERSED POLLEN COLLECTION
fem pollen collection zero.jpg
There are many ways to go about harvest and collection of fem pollen, but this is how I go about the process.

Materials:
Reversed pollen sacs
Grinder screen and lid (no kief catch)
Scraper (cut from plant tag)
Pollen container
Razor
Work Surface (black paper plate)

fem pollen collection.jpg
1) You can better prep your pollen by separating the “bananas” from any other plant matter, but I left them on in this picture (pic 1).

:!:Allowing your freshly plucked pollen sacs a couple days to dry before attempting this will aid in pollen collection.

2) Place the bananas in the grinder screen (no kief catch attached to bottom), and gently agitate/chop with the scraper (pic 2).

3) Holding the screen with one hand, gently tap the side with the grinder lid. You will see the bananas skid across the screen (pic 3).

4) Give the screen a minute before gently lifting to reveal the separated pollen (pic 4).

5) Scrape the pollen with your razor and store into your pollen container.

With your fem pollen created and collected, you can now pollinate your females to create feminized seeds. Feel free to marry this with the single branch pollination process to create small batch fem seeds for yourself without sacrificing whole plants.
