The Role of Earthworms

I started raising earthworms in my grow room a while back. Mostly this was because the worm bins absorb a lot of the smell. The bins themselves smell kind of earthy but don't stink at all. The worms love cannabis leaves also so there is no need to discard anything. Soak culled male plants overnight and none of the pollen makes it out of the worm bins.
I add worm castings to water and that really makes the whole grow go better. I have to give the addition of worm bins a thumbs up.

I've been thinking about making a worm composter so I can collect the worm castings. Worm castings are good stuff.

They can attract fungus gnats but that is easy peasy to control!

I have the stacked style you can add as many stack bins as you need.

The liquid run off from worm composting is like liquid gold!

I use the stack bins myself. It is the only way I know of to harvest the castings without it being a huge hassle. I may be lucky. I have never gotten fungus or gnats.

ewc are the gold standard for quality bud. Use them all the time, for various stages. Here’s a CBD Rene that I transplanted yesterday into 1 gallon planters. And always add a few worms to each!!!

Finally got a worm box started this spring.
Native worms collected from the street after spring rains, then boxed up a few inches of the matted leafpile from last fall, which was also twitching with infant worms.
An incredible, local old timer had his entire garden enclosure for "sale" I just had to take it apart....80'x30' of self milled lumber awesomeness, which included a dozen raised bed boxes he had stacked up by his solar kiln...I saw worm boxes...
This mans' greatness cannot be measured.
Im going for EWC mayhem, with all those boxes.

I use a storage tub. Feed one side, wait a day, clean out the other side and refill with bedding.

I haven't had gnats, just the harmless little white mites... No issues with them though.

Mine is also in my grow room. I have a compost bucket next to the bin to get their feed broke down before they get it. Shaves off a lot of time to get castings.

Got them a few times in the old place.
Only once in the new......Easy peasy to kill them off......

Stacking bins, is the way to go! They just migrate up to the next when they need to. You don't worry about the lower bins drying out either.....
