Trimming during flower

I'm growing super skunk in DWC scrog and I'm in day 31 of flower. I'm using 2, 600 watt LED lights. It's really leafy and the top canopy is completely covering the buds under the top colas. Is it too far into flower to trim some fan leaves? I keep reading conflicting points of views and I'm not sure what to believe. I don't want to hurt my yield, but tucking the leaves isn't working anymore. It's way too leafy.

I don't know, the lower buds are getting pretty big. I lollipopped it below the screen and this strain didn't stretch near as much as I thought it would. I kind of want more direct light to them, but if it's not really needed, I'll just leave it be.

Not too late, just dont go stripping all at once. Or they will get a bit shocked and go into recovery mode. (I know because i did this a few runs ago) i grow using the exact same method and definitely remove big fans. Look for older ones that have long stems on them, try to only take a couple off each cola and not remove too much off one branch.
Wait 3 or 4 days then reassess.

Ive tried a big defol and found yield suffered and i didnt seem to get that final bud swell. But if you have a dense canopy then light penetration is a must for overall yield.
Just my 2 cents worth 8-)

when you move buds aside and the lower ones look albino because they are getting little to no light at all then i agree with harvest the top bud's leave the lowers to mature. over crowding is just as bad as under filling your grow room

When the time is right harvest the top bud's leave the lowers to mature, I have been doing this for years.
Ive also done this many times and it does help but sometimes i wonder if the time that space is used and the power draw required, getting that popcorn bud denser/more mature is even really worth it if you have a good perpetual pattern on lockdown....?

I prefer to have an overcrowded grow than undercrowded. I personally hate not filling out my grow space :wall:

I much prefer this to undercrowding!!

Not worth it,I’d say. All that extra time adds up and you can easily lose an extra harvest in a years time. Less harvest of prime bud as a trade off for improving b grade bud isn’t a good trade off to me

Yes i agree. Only time i would do this is if ive fucked up my timing with my plants in veg. I did this a few runs ago on a 1 pound plant under scrog, she stretched alot more than i had anticipated. I would say i would of only got 14 to 14.5 ozs if i didnt. Added density/weight and alot of time trimming lol. But ideally you want to prevent this from proper training/timing early on in the piece.
