The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

You happen to know what lux you guys get with your boards being so close? Also what watt per board you’re running? Thinking of maybe dimming mine and getting them close like the led bars.

We get plenty of lux but our meters arent ahe most reliable.

This is what we do, over a 1.1m (3.7 feet) wide aisle, 7 foot long section:
1 fotop across, every 40 cm (16"). Means around 5" distance between boards. 5 boards total in a 8way wago. We use hlg240s in the last 3 wago points, starting at 1 and going up to 3 at the highest. Means 150w and change for every board and we cant get it much closer than 8-10 inches without stress.
But even at 100w and 6 inches it flowers great, around +600ppfd iirc.
I say you could defo turn them down a bit and drop them closer, especially if you see the plants respond well.

I think the form factor plays into this; when you have light coming onto cannopy from all directions, boards literally covering the cannopy, it seems like you can get good results out of less watts.

That setup is about 24 square feet and 750 board watts. So around 30 w per sq foot, a bit low but gives us more than enough light.

Edit: boards are lm561c

We have a few others that run differently.
Our new favorite is the 2700k 90cri spectrum, really worked nicely with our amnesia haze.

Go with another China supplier other than Meijiu. They are horrible with warranty that even Invisible Sun stopped using them! Quality is also VERY inconsistent.

Sorry to sidetrack this but just gotta post this for the lurkers who depend on us for info. I'm about done with posting bout them these few days. Focusing on growing which is what we really love!

Don't mind me. Moving along...

This is quite relevant information. One thing though, you post links to what at first glance looks like other people having problems with their boards. And then problems with the warranty claiming. But on following those links its just your posts on other forums. If there is info about Meijius warranty failings please post it. But making your own issue with one company look like a global grower problem for growers on all forums is a bit weak. Not saying i think its allright to deny you warranty, all though warranties are usually to the manufacturers discretion to what is covered and what is not.

I understand that you feel completely done over by them and that you need to vent and denounce this shit. And i feel sympathy for your position. And i hope this thread hasnt missled you into thinking the chinese products are something theyre not: they wont be US/euro/HLG quality and warranty problems is sorta baked into the price. This also the reason i never recommend buying drivers from chkna. But i do believe the boards are worth their price depending on where you are and what your setup is like, and i would keep believing it even if i had a dead string of any of my boards (over 30 going right now, no faults, touch wood)

It would be interesting to see if there are any similarities (purchase date or i dont know) between your boards and weedsexweightshakes, he also had a dead string but he managed to get warranty. Maybe it would indicate a bad batch or something. Anyways, best of luck and i i hope the boards continue to serve you, please let us know if they break further

I built 2 4x8 lights for veg only 8 4k boards per section. No sinks. What's everyone running them at. I'm at 80w per board. I know they have been pushing 120 each board with sinks.

They are actually at 1675mA @48v 80.4w per board.

Welcome to the dark side WW, glad you made it :)
I run the china boards with 3 mm alu backing, 50-60w and never had a reason to measure the temps as theyve been just warm to the touch. What temps at 80w?
How do you rate them compared to your other builds with digikey or the like sourced strips?

I wanted to build a light using 9 288v2 on a 600w hlg 600 with no heatsinks. That is basically 66 watts per board Will i be ok as far as the boards not having heat sinks?
