Complicated question...

So i have 2ml mylar film, and i have created my own cool tube for my 250w bulbs. Can i place a mylar reflector about an inch or a little higher above it?

My research says this will be fine,because it has a boiling point of 489.2 F or 254 C and the temp will never get near that point just an inch above the cool tube. Mylar®, Plastic Sheet, Polyester Film Sheet and Sheet Properties - Grafix Plastics

Or should i just go with this type of a reflector to be safe? GROWFAQ

you could do that but the shade will direct light down better

Thanks, well i'm short on money but ill probably use the GROWFAQ reflector.

If your short on cash just get something that you can make into the shape you need and glue the mylar to it.

You can do it, it will be fine. Shouldn't be too complicated at all.

Batwing out of metal.

Grow safe... Yes it would be fine w/mylar provided the fan didn't fail or accidentally get left unplugged.

The actual batwing will be more effective and even if you spray it with high temp flat white paint rather than a reflective metal surface but either is fine.

I made the Bat wing and sprayed it. I used aluminum flashing (instead of sheet metal) w/ the high temp flat white paint. Ill post

Not sure what yo made your cooltube out of. If a pyrex bake-a-round then you'll be ok. But I'd still be cautious of it. If the cooling fan fails, the temps will rise fast and above your stated temps.

Me? I'd just make a quick reflector out of some flashing material from a home improvement store. (actually did)

The bake-a-round? a bit shy of 4 inches OD.

Thats too tight for a 250w MH and anything bigger, it works for a HPS. I found this big guy for 8 bucks at ROSS (yes...the clothing store) 13" long and 5" diamiter. Perfect for my MH and HPS for my swichable ballust. im gona post the pics of my contraption right now, on my grow journal.
