Its an alfalfa mix thats been sitting in the barn for a couple years. The pipe is too shade a thermometer. I know its not perfect, but if i leave it in the sun it reads 115+ all day

I'm not sure about alfalfa for a cover, but it's probably better than hay. I use alfalfa meal as an organic soil amendment. Yours will break down much more slowly, but that's probably what you are poking for in a mulch. The pipe protector is a fine idea, just bulky. Keep up the good work.

That's an awesome not till raised bed! Nice work so far. I used rabbit food hay for mulch. Lol anything to keep the moisture in on hot days. After this grow, throw down some compost over the cover crop and mulch and start it all again next year! Keep this thread updated, I'll follow along. I grow LST indoor, and your on the right track.

Have you topped yet? That will kick off the side branch growth. Then just keep weaving them through your cages.

I havent topped at all. Kinda shying away from that... Ive just been bending and tying.

Update as of today still no topping. Weekly applications of AACT, SST, Humic acid. G.H. temps hit 28f on Jun 21. It's been a crazy year in the SW20190709_203359.jpg 20190709_203404.jpg

20190804_142738.jpg 20190804_142759.jpg Explosive growth the last couple weeks. There's something in this rainwater from the afternoon monsoon showers that these girls love. All showing signs of starting to flower, one is lightyears ahead of the rest.
