Help!! Heat Problem!!

Any and ALL ideas are welcome. I'm currently constructing a 2'x2'x4' closet grow. I'm using a 4" duct fan (80 cfm) for my air exhaust, and a 14" tower fan to circulate air within the closet. I have all 4 walls completely covered in black/white poly paper (85% reflective). My lighting is 18-40W CFL (6000K) totaling 47,700 Lumen.

Before I started my grow I wanted to test the room fully equipped with my hygrometer. The results: 102 F and 18% humidity!!!

Please if you have any SERIOUS suggestions feel free to give them.

Impatiently being patient...

Actually I'm use to bigger grows, but I'm trying out CFLs for the 1st time. If you're not commenting to help the situation...keep it moving...

CFLs don't put out any less heat than HID.... but I guess you've figured that out by now. ;-) You gotta take out 50%+ of those bulb and get it to around 200-300w. And get a cool mist humidifier too.

I've never grown indoors before so I do not have to rely on HID either. Here in Jamaica there's not a problem with outdoor grows, but I've been wondering what all the hype was about CFLs. But thanks for the type on the cool mist. + rep :peace:

CFLs are easily accessible, cheap, and they work well for growing. That's why they're popular around RIU. Environment is just as important as light so you gotta strike a balance for max dank.

Damn man if you're in Jamaica you've got it made. I would just use some CFLs to keep healthy mothers and clones then move the clones outside under the sun.

I'll have to keep that in mind. I want to try a HID system next. Any suggestions? My goal is to move everything inside. It get kind of hectic walking up into the mountain just to grow.

When I was a first time grower , I built this beautiful kick-ass "grow cabinet", it was a work of art, really. From the get-go that damn cabinet was too HOT, so now it is a storage cabinet !
What was your question ? Oh yeh, about YOUR cabinet.
Well as you can guess I'm no fan of small spaces ,so I would recommend a more " open " type grow .

3 gallons is pretty big.... I would not consider that a SOG cuz you'd have to veg for at least a month to maximize all that soil. If you wanna use containers I suggest a drip system in coco coir but a 4' x 8' flood tray with a bunch of clones in a bed of lava rock would be so easy.

You'll want 5' x 10" floorspace with at least 7' headroom.... 2K of HPS and a 15,000+ Btu A/C.
Thanks for the insight. So should I only use HPS, or also MH? IS there a particular company that you recommend? I'm not really worry about the cost as long as the results are worth it.

No i was not mentioning that I was growing using the SOG method. I was saying that links you sent me of the SOG method using soda bottles is nice. I'm transplanting my personal strain (OG Kush x Jack Herer x Lamb's Bread) into 6 3gal containers.

HPS will give you the most weight. You'll want to get a copper core magnetic ballast. Aluminum core is OK too but a copper core should give you a nice 7 year warranty whereas aluminum core is about a 5 year warranty.
Thanks for the info. I've made a setup where i'm getting light from above and under the canopy. Once I figure out how to overcome this heat problem I will start a journal with all the pics that I've taken so far of the complete set-up. I've been planning this for a while now, but this heat situation is making me :wall:
