"GeneralTest drove my dream car, the new Jaguar F-Type, and then the I-Pace. Friend who had a Model S delivered two days ago urged me to test drive it before making a decision, so I took him up on the offer. (self.teslamotors)

Just posting this out of sheer excitement. For the last 4 years I've been saving up to buy the best spec Jaguar F-Type in cash, it has always been my dream car. Went into the dealership yesterday to test drive the new model, and loved it! While there, I also drove the I-Pace, and seriously considered it as I'm aware that ICE vehicles are not what this planet needs right now. The I-Pace was nice, but not nearly as nice as the F-Type, so I went home to do a bit more research.

A good friend recently had his new Tesla Model S delivered, and he urged me to try it out before pulling the trigger on my new Jaguar. While I was 90% set on the F-Type and 10% on the I-Pace, I decided I'd still take him up on it. Have to say that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

It felt like it was in a different league to the other vehicles. The speed was intense, had so much more tech offerings, which my friend demo'd, including AutoPilot which I loved. The car itself felt incredible to drive, in my opinion better than the two Jaguars I test drove. All the other benefits, especially the charging network, were the cherries on top.

Just put my order in for a blue Model S Performance! Best part is that it was more than $10K cheaper than the F-Type I had spec'ed out, even with the FSD add on. :)

Excited to join the EV world and community!

Fun note, my dad put in a deposit for the Model Y and he's very excited as well."

I saw that Porsche...$100,000+
Lol- do you really want to compare price points of analogous Tesla models?

You'll find they're about the same.

I bet the Porsche will run rings around a Model S on a track- and I'll bet others will be able to get them services in a timely manner to boot.

How about that?

Cool story, bro. Seriously. It sounds like he's going to be happy. When I have new car money to spend, I will not be in the market for an ICE powered vehicle either. I will drive everything I can get my hands on, do my homework and then choose what's best for my needs.

That's going to include a JD Power & Associates initial quality survey, a Consumer Reports write-up and discussions with service managers about cost and availability of parts and maintenance.

May the best vehicle win!

Just make sure they all offer a global network of charging stations;-)

Tesla triples European sales in first half of 2019 as European car market drops 7.9%

As the overall European car market fell nearly 8% in June over last year, Tesla managed to both buck the trend and triple its sales in the region in the first half of 2019. The Model 3 was also Europe’s best-selling premium midsize sedan in June, totaling 11,256 new vehicle registrations.

I'm actually waiting to see the Tesla pick-up....but i still think it will beat it from stoplight to stoplight...
That is a sweet looking truck. I would add a few things, a bull bar/brush guard, a light bar, a 3 inch lift kit and bigger tires

Meanwhile at ford.......:wall:
Monster V8 engine to debut in Ford 2020 pickups in fall
Ford’s biggest trucks will get one of the world's biggest V8 engines starting this fall, as one aspect of the Truck Wars turns into an old-fashioned battle of engine size that's reminiscent of the muscle car era.
Exhibit A: A 7.3L gasoline-powered V8 coming to Ford’s Super Duty pickups and commercial vehicles, from ambulances and utility bucket trucks to just a step shy of massive highway semitrucks.

It will be great for the small scale construction businessman in a few years. That's when this model will hit the used market after the plush boomer guy bought it new -- and mostly used it to drive to and from the pharmacy - goes into assisted living. The gun rack the boomer put in the cab will then be used to hold a level.

This is a perfect example of the giant corporation's last acts before crumbling to disruptive tech. Ford is doubling down on it's existing tech products to answer demands from its customers. It might even boost profits for a few years. It's rare to see a giant that is well established in existing tech succeed when a disruptive technology company begins to expand exponentially. Demands of the old-tech company's customers are one of the reasons.

Sodium copper ion batteries look to be a way to reduce the cost of battery storage. Recent research has suggested that new chemistry will allow them to go 5000 cycles.

I think a breakthrough is on the horizon somewhere that will deliver batteries as much better than lithium as they were better than lead acid batteries. When that happens, we'll see the electrification of the bulk of the transport sector, even long haul aircraft.

Electric cars were only superseded by gas powered vehicles because of poor batteries. That's always been the hold up.

Walmart has had enough of Tesla's bullshit.

Walmart is suing Elon Musk’s electric vehicle and clean energy company after Tesla solar panels atop seven of the retailer’s stores allegedly caught fire, according a court filing.

The Walmart suit alleges breach of contract, gross negligence and failure to live up to industry standards. Walmart is asking Tesla to remove solar panels from more than 240 Walmart locations where they have been installed, and to pay damages related to all the fires Walmart says that Tesla caused.

Amazon jumps on Walmart's bandwagon - writes Tesla off completely.

On Friday, Amazon.com Inc. said a June 2018 blaze on the roof of one of its warehouses in Redlands, California, involved a solar panel system that Tesla’s SolarCity division had installed. The Seattle-based retail giant said by email that it has since taken steps to protect its facilities and has no plans to install more Tesla systems.
