Will things ever change?

Don't sell yourself short. You also happen to be an Oceanographer. Kudos.
You probably can't even swim. I'm working as a tech diving instructor. I have taught marine biologists how to dive. I am also an underwater welder. That is quite far into the field of oceanography (not a proper noun).

Do you think people work that kind job without leaving their hometown? Did you finish high school?

“Nothing happened after Sandy Hook, so I think nothing’s going to happen after this,” she said.

Laura Platt, 33, a physician, said she wanted to see better gun policies enacted, but had no expectation that that would ever happen.

Trump, who spent the weekend at his estate in Bedminster, N.J., declared that “hate has no place in our country and we are going to take care of it.”

He said that “a lot of things are in the works.”

What can one say?

You want things to change?

Vote every fucking Republican out of Congress and change the laws, and if that means shit canning the 2nd, so be it.

Enough is enough.
I don’t think it will.

Just so there's no confusion later . . . you're an (o)ceanographer. Thanks so much.

May I ask . . . where did you obtain your degree in oceanography?
Where did you get your degree in trolling? How about your degree in flipping burgers? One does not need to have a degree to work in a field. I have been adding qualifications to my diving resume for years. I don't have to tell you where I went to college or what I studied just so you can dig and dox.

I am an oceanographer and a technical diving instructor. I'm an expert in hyperbaric physiology. If you want to come find me, you will have to leave your guns at home anyway. It wouldn't go well for you.

I think this time the pendulum will swing, and the NRA and their supporters are fucked.
Next election an A rating from the NRA should equal disqualification from holding office.
The big problem for the NRA this time around is they have no money.

They were getting it all from Russia. Now that they're under several different investigations, their money supply has been cut off. That's why they've been shutting down everything and only spent a fraction of what they normally spend on an election cycle in 2018. (from 45 million down to 6 million.)

In 2020, the NRA will be so broke it can't pay attention.

That is what is going to end them: no money. The gun nuts will simply never change. Ever. They never have.

I hope your right. What’s sad though, is the thought of how many more of these mass shootings are gonna happen before the next elections. I’d say a bunch more.

The Inconvenient Truth
About Me
In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and
his manifesto. This attack is a response to the
Hispanic invasion of Texas. They are the instigator
s, not me. I am simply defending my country from
cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by an in
vasion. Some people will think this statement is
hypocritical because of the nearly complete ethnic
and cultural destruction brought to the Native
Americans by our European ancestors, but this just
reinforces my point. The natives didn’t take the
invasion of Europeans seriously, and now what’s lef
t is just a shadow of what was. My motives for this
attack are not at all personal. Actually the Hispan
ic community was not my target before I read The
Great Replacement. This manifesto will cover the po
litical and economic reasons behind the attack, my
gear
, my expectations of what response this will ge
nerate and my personal motivations and thoughts...

Gear
Main gun: AK47 (WASR 10) – I realized pretty quickly that this isn’t a great choice since it’s the civilian
version of the ak47. It’s not designed to shoot rounds quickly, so it overheats massively after about
100 shots fired in quick succession. I’ll have to use a
heat-resistant glove to get around this.
8m3 bullet: This bullet, unlike pretty much any other 7.62x39 bullet, actually fragments like a pistol
hollow point when shot out of an ak47 at the cost o
f penetration. Penetration is still reasonable, but not
nearly as high as a normal ak47 bullet. The ak47 is
definitely a bad choice without this bullet design, and
may still be with it.
Other gun(if I get one): Ar15 – Pretty much any variation of this gun doesn’t heat up nearly as fast a
s the
AK47. The round of this gun isn’t designed to frag
ment, but instead tumbles inside a target causing
lethal wounding. This gun is probably better, but I
wanted to explore different options. The ar15 is
probably the best gun for military applications but
this isn’t a military application.
This will be a test of which is more lethal, either
it’s fragmentation or tumbling.
I didn’t spend much time at all preparing for this
attack. Maybe a month, probably less. I have do this
before I lose my nerve. I figured that an under-prepared attack and a meh manifesto is better than no
attack and no manifesto

Truncated to show only what he wrote about military equipment.

They should give this list of weapons of choice and ammo from this mad man to Congress, and have all removed from the general populace.
Why are these weapons and bullet types readably available to any insane fuck that wants to walk into a gun store and obtain them?
I'm sure Law enforcement would agree with me that they are simply designed to KILL FUCKING PEOPLE!!!!.
GET THEM OFF THE STREETS!!!

You can bet on more madness, but on an up note, maybe the American people will wake the fuck up and vote with their conscience and retire anyone that want's to continue the status quo as far as gun control.
Now is the time to really change things with these upcoming elections, and kick all these 2nd Amendment advocates off a fucking roof.

I wish with all my heart that happens in Kentucky and Moscow Mitch is defeated, but Kentucky has been letting me down since the Rand Paul mistake

Amy McGrath is going to send McConnell back to the turtle farm he emerged from.
Kentucky's Senator is an abomination and I believe most Kentuckians know that now.
His time fucking America and the Dem's should be over soon, but we shall see if the state noted for incest decides to enter the modern age :)

I don't think gun control is the answer, I really don't. Without changing the culture and society which produces these monsters it is not going to do anything. Japan basically has no handguns (not entirely true) and almost no gun violence, yet 33 people were killed the other week by some asshole who thought an animation studio stole his novel. We have a mass murder there every 5 years or so. My point is Japan is one of the safest, most peaceful places on the planet and we can't prevent crazy from happening. The problem is America has too many crazy people. Without dealing with that problem head on you aren't going to solve anything. Timothy Mcveigh didn't use a gun (though he must have had a shit load).

1)Why are Americans sick?
2)Why are Americans crazy?
3)Why do Americans hate each other?
4)Why are Americans stressed?

I think all of us have ideas about the answers to these questions. Solve these problems and you solve 90% of the gun problem without getting rid of them. Solve none of them and guns disappear tomorrow and you have axe murders, knife murders, etc. One crazy little piss-ant loser in Japan who probably weighed 150 wet killed 17 people with a car and a knife.

That being said, vote out the republicans for all the other reasons you should. Your children's future.
You are such as asshole please do us all a favor and go kill your self. What ever it takes. This thread is full of useful ideas on how you could do it. Firearms, prescription drugs or perhaps your favorite, meth.

I am not sure that he doesn't have a point. I am all for gun control, but don't really care about guns. Growing up I knew a lot of people with the "Anarchist Cookbook" and they would always be messing around blowing stuff up. It is not hard for these crazies to pull off more bombing, which is incredibly scary to think about too. If they don't have guns, nothing is stopping them from just moving on to cheaper but just as devastating if not more.

A real conversation should be had on this subject. His 1, 2, and 3 were bullshit though. But I think the idea behind trying to understand the real issue and fixing that needs to be prioritized. We need all the mental health facilities that were build under Carter and removed under Reagan back, and we need to figure out how to get people to not think timmy is doing ok as he is planning madness.

if you ban guns sure people will get them on the black market and build IEDs but at least you're working toward something. when an event would happen, the investigation would be into how the person got the weapon or explosive and stopping that supply chain. instead of what we have now, which is "oh where did he get the gun? got it legally? end of investigation." cue the next one.

some people would build bombs. much fewer than would buy a gun though. and alot of them would kill themselves in the process.

I don't think it has anything to do with luck. America sells drugs like they are candy to the masses and fill their minds with garbage. Combine that with a profit making criminal system and I don't think "luck" is a factor. If you don't see that America has more crazy people in it today then it did 50 years ago you don't get it. Now call me a child fucker and stick with what you do best.
To answer the OP. Yes things will change but it won’t end mass shootings because we are focused on the tool instead of the mechanic.

Makes for better political drama.
