(CNN) A series of new firearm laws will go into effect in Texas next month -- further loosening gun restrictions in a state that's had four of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern US history.
The laws -- passed before a gunman massacred 22 people and injured dozens in El Paso last weekend -- will make it easier to have guns in a state with some of the most lax weapons restrictions in the nation.

I mean something must be done to combat gun violence in Texas right, so why not loosen the existing laws and make it easier to carry firearms in public.
So the logic it seems is that if everyone is armed, that will at least reduce mass murders somewhat, if not eliminate them altogether
What do you think?
Is Texas on to something, or are they just simply fucking insane?

Insurance beats killing someone over a TV.
I recommend new for old.
insurance companies are instructed to give a 3rd or less.....that's how they keep they're profit margins so high.....i'd rather put a guy down for tresspassing and stealing...or at least give him a good reason to never come back...

In unrelated news: my wife, who is Russian, is asking if her parents who are coming to visit next month should bring us a couple of AK47's.

I'm half tempted to say yes.

The manner in which it's implemented is important.

Kennesaw, Georgia

The city is perhaps best known nationally for its mandatory gun-possession ordinance.

In 2001, violent crime rates were about 60% below national and state rates. Property crime rates were from 46–56% below national and state rates. From 1999 to 2011, Kennesaw crime statistics reported that both property and violent crimes had decreased, though from 2003 to 2008 the trend in both violent and property crime rates slightly increased.[19] The increase in crime rate overall is attributed to the population growth rate of 37.41%. The population growth rate is much higher than the state average rate of 18.34% and is much higher than the national average rate of 9.71%

I have no idea what the stats are today.

Houston had a real bad looting problem, even though people were evacuating. Rock Port the same, infact one report someone did try too loot...but the owner stayed....as soon as the guy got through the door...boom...he got off with self defense...

Nobody in Kennessaw owns a gun. Nobody obeys that law. They never have.

It's the thought that everyone is SUPPOSED to have a gun that sends most criminals back to Marietta or own down the road to Ackworth.

This whole idea in Texas exploded some years ago when a lady who was a licensed gun owner was eating at a cafeteria with her parents and an asshole drove into the cafeteria, got out and starting killing people. Including her parents. She wasn’t packing because the cafeteria had rules. Like they were going to search her purse.
