Moved up North Canada two years ago on the coast and been having all types of issues with slugs and snails, vicious little buggers. Have tried all types of different things but they all seem to have their problems. Like works good but needs maintenance, reapply every week etc.
Chatted with an old hippy friend that has been growing since near the beginning of time and he mentioned something that sounded pretty weird. He said he has been using Birch tar for this for years so I did a bit of digging on it.
Apparently you get this stuff from dry distilling Birch bark, been used for hundreds of thousands of years for all types of stuff. Catch is that almost nobody sells it but I found one place >> https://otzispouch.ca
Received an ounce a couple of days ago and going by hippy buddies mix, warm it up and mix 1 teaspoon and two teaspoon vaseline. Use a brush to apply it to bottom stem of plants, which I did.
Normally I de-slug these plants every morning before the sun comes up to catch the little rotters and kill them, I normally find 5-10 per plant. Since I applied the mix I have found none on the plants. The mix is supposed to stay active for about 2 months and does not wash off.
