Secret Jardin Firehazard middle-section pole-assembly

I read about this issue on instagram, a guy said he got a tent with middle-sections without "nipples" inside the middle-poles. My problem is similar, its the nipples that are too "short" and the middle-section too wide, with a little vibration from the RAM oscillating fan (which by the way vibrates way less, and makes less noise than the SJ dreaded monkeyfan and can run at lower speeds)

^ This is the poles from the "front-section" that have never been worn.. They are just as bad at resisting pressure from a simple one-hand move down..

Untitled-1.jpg

Stay safe. And reject this shit. I attached the bottom again and put lots of tape to support the bottom, while I guarded the apartment till a friend could come over help me move this.

And to Secret Jardin, wherever you are.. You got some blood on your hands. Clean it up, you can't blame this on china, your safety tests are flawed. This had no weight on it, the exhaust was hanged by a cord in the ceiling and only dialed upwards with a rope in the tent in the strongest "middle-pole". Recall your f'in shit.

R3.0 growtent, firehazard.
R2.0 Monkeyfan, still squeaks, sparks, melts plastic behind fan, stops turning altogether.

Secret Jardin. Not the "best manufacturer in this field" as they once claimed to me. Rather the worst. Any cheap tent is better than this I can confidently say as SJ is among the worst I've ever seen.

I almost dropped and killed a brand new RAM EC Silenced 513m3 and a HLG 260w light, the light got hit a little bit by the hanging exhaust.. If it dies I will send the bill to SJ definetily.. Don't think you can go free on this!

So what's the issue? The a and b poles for the uprights don't fit into each other?
The issue being the middle-connector is holding 2 hollow poles with just a little bit of metal applying almost no pressure to the poles, very small vibration can then slowly bring this middle-piece down until the top pole slides away from the surface of the bottom pole as its like 2 hollow cylinders on top of each other at this point, collapsing the tent

This is due to the middle piece nipples not being strong enough or having a screw across to lock in tight, so its prone to just rotating and sliding down until you have a support which is hollow poles on top of each other like 2 bottlenecks on top of each other

What I am demonstrating in the video is that even a one-hand without much pressure can wiggle that middle-piece down easily, there’s no stopping that middle-piece going down from being placed on top of the bottom pole

I just watched this video

That's fucking crazy that they didn't see such a serious design floor.
I admit I thought it might have been user error. But from a company been in this game this long its just mental that this is what they are selling.
Who even uses plastic corners these days.

Yep, and other reports of poles with no nipples at all, which has been exchanged before. So definetily revision 3.0 of a tent is still a fire hazard potentially you can have one with no nipples or too loose nipples. Either case you have 4x that risk of happening with the 4 corners.

One thing I always noticed about SJ what they lack in quality and always lightleaks from the factory they always give in plastic accessories and packing material, bags for tent etc. Its such a weird ass priority

I've used DP90 tents for years, upgraded to the 4.0 version this year. They're the best tents I've owned after Homebox Evolution. The plastic parts in your pictures look very different from what I have. Maybe their larger tents have issues then.

ps. Zero light leaks and the zippers are covered, intake has light baffles too.

It’s a way better design, I agree, but its also the smallest of the tents, so the risk of fire hazard is larger with the bigger tents. Chinese defects are not an option with the holding poles. Still doesn’t change the fact they have these out on the market in their main line of tents not the minority

SJ = Sells Junk. The list of useless failing equipment they sell recently is extensive, now this can be added to it. If you read the reviews of their monkey fan, an otherwise interesting product, you will weep. It might be cheaper to just accept bud rot and mildew than to buy their failing fans.

Hah thats a new one, we go by “not so secret jardin” here cuz of the monkey fans. Can you believe when I complained to them over email they claimed they were the best manufacturer in this industry and “just wait for r2.0 we haven’t updated our website yet so you can’t see it". Fan first came in stores a whole year later, so they literally just planned it when I wrote them (and then the website was updated).

Secondly, I took a look inside my spare poles they are rusty inside, outside nice and shiny. This brings me to the issue with my first tent, poles rusted in the assembly after first grow in 55-60 rh max humidity. Its incredible they deliver this crap worldwide.

Secret Jardin truly is the worst, and I can’t think of any other argument lacking for anyone to claim the “not me”-culture following this post

Here’s a better video.

Two finger movement.

Secret Jardin won’t respond or refund. But they know.. They have responded the shop, from what it seems it seems like the shop isn’t satisfied with their response. So you can only guess the excuses.

This is indeed worrying for such a large manufacturer to go completely reluctant.

I have owned many many fans and found the monkey fans to be great so far.
Circulation fans will eventually fail because they clog up over time. Though I have only had one fan seize up and it wasn't a monkey fan.

As far as noise goes they are no worse than any other fan that shifts the same amount of air.
I think OP mentioned RAM fans, the one I have is quieter but utterly useless because it cant even blow a rizla 3" in front of it let alone move a few leaves. Maybe he is using different ones.

I never did try their tents , they were expensive in comparison to others (pre gorilla tents) and all other tents I have tried have standard config of poles which interlock with others and metal corners. Pretty shocking the poor standard im seeing so im glad I never tried them.
Does make me wonder though if someone's either copying their product or buying up the rejects from QC and reselling them.
I mean they have been around a long time and built up a rep long ago. Seems odd they would risk fires and total ruin of their brand, also possible someone bought them out and went down to cheap street.

The reviews I read on the fans were positive but not lots to read, what is the general complaint about them?

Nope, this claim is not true. I bought it from a official reseller last time, they got refunded officially (rusted also, lightleaks), I got it from another reseller this time, they are in direct contact with them and seems they are aware. So please do not let the benefit of doubt and “not-me” culture let people go less on their safety. This is potentially a firehazard and that leads to a potential lifethreat.

It was not a claim. It was a suggested possibility which you just proved not possible.

I sure as shit wouldn't recommend their tents after your video. Literally cant think of a more likely cause of a fire other than not plugging things in correctly. Its the same reason I would never hang a light on ratchets. Even the slightest chance of failure is too much chance..

We agree. Only reason I mentioned this is that there’s a tendency nowadays to defend a lot of the throwaway consumer products and it doesn’t matter how pricey they are. Apple, Secret Jardin, etc. it doesn’t really matter. But they really emphasize the throwaway culture that this world suffers.

Its a weird situation people feel emotional to defend someone who clearly doesn’t care about them.

They are straight up lying now, saying me and the recipient didn’t reply:

The shop/reseller does care tho:

“We're busy with secret jardin to get a refunds for the tent and also on the shipping cost. Secret Jardin knows what is going on, we have send your video and image and we're very disapointed in the way everything works out. if we get a respond of secret jardin how to deal with this, we will let you know as soon as possible.”

Update: Shop told me they will refund, they are puzzled over why Secret Jardin said they are “good friends” they are only resellers they said.

Secret Jardin: No response and no acknowledgement of the issue
