Amazon has 4 qb120s for $139... It just so happens that the drivers that i have will work with them... Would 8 of these be too much for a 4x4x8???

8 should work great in a square pattern leaving a hole in the center(think tic tac toe).... thats max of 560w which is a bit high but thats what dimming is for....i would probably dim your drivers down to 300-400w to start and slowly push up to 500w once/if your plants can handle it

Shouldnt need any with the 120's, although i would put an oscillating fan just above light height pointing down at the topside of the leds if you can .... this will help cool the boards drastically at the cost of heating your tent up a bit.... the faster you run the oscillating fan the hotter your tent will get but the cooler the leds will be sorta deal...

QB 120's are better in a small space. look at it like this, 4 QB 120's have 192 fewer LEDs than 2 QB 288. it would take 11 QB 120s to equal the output of 4 QB 288. I'd go with 6-8 QB 288. They too can be run without heatsinks up to I believe 70 watts. The QB 120 maxes at 60 - 65 watts. Yes its a bit more cost but not much. And you can get QB 288 V1 right now for $45 each on sale at HLG. Hell you can start with 6 and add 2 more later if budget demands! Six 288s produce a hell of a lot more light than eight 120s. The difference is psread with 6 is more than made up for by the increase in photons.

qb288s can be run without heatsinks only up to 60w, and the qb120 v2s can be run up to 70w... also keep in mind that the qb120 uses a more efficient led than the QB288 V1.... with 6 288's he would be maxed out a 360w which just isnt enough, and he already has drivers for qb120 i believe

5% more watts doesn't amount to enough to mater either way and with 168 more LEDs per board, the minor difference in efficiency has minimal effect. I believe Frank is looking for bang for the buck. I sure as hell wouldn't replace my first run QB 304s for 5-6% increase in efficiency. you tell me which will produce more light, 960 301b or 1728 561C? Its no contest!

And the no pest strip was removed right after the pic lol. It was only in there till I put the seedlings in to exterminate any hiding critters.......
