I know I’m making myself a target for harassment. But I have to agree with OP. Uncle Buck and friends do make this site hard to visit. I’ve been a member here since 2011. I love RIU. I always click on new posts and sometimes the political posts look the most interesting so I click on it, and lo and behold there’s Buck degrading someone for having a different opinion than someone, or he’s saying something sexually lewd and offensive. I mean at this moment I’m making this post he has a picture of what looks like a penis and definitely Cum on someone’s face. Gross!!!! I’ve never seen A bigger troll, or bully in my life!! On any website. Just so much hate. And this is a community for growers. I don’t understand how RIU continues to let this happen. RIU knows about this problem and should be healed responsible for all the offensive and threateningly hateful things that show up on there site that he posts. I can’t even imagine the real harm he’s done to this site.

I don't know you and I don't know pj. I do know that the string of false conspiracy theories that pj promotes are the same used in propaganda campaigns to either smear opponents with lies or suppress votes in efforts to further right wing causes such as white supremacy. I mean, chemtrails, Seth Rich, Bernie was jobbed in 2016, 9-11 disaster was an inside job, "freemasons" are all completely disproven and phony talking points for people who can't bring facts to a discussion because they have none. So, it's not a matter of hate as it is responding to propaganda and lies.

Trump and the GOP promote violence against the people who oppose them. I've been in the crowds facing down fascists who came from across this country to march and break heads in Portland. We showed up in the thousands, they showed up in the hundreds and in fact they did bust heads. By putting ourselves in harms way, we forced the police to step in and stop them. We stopped them. Not by being nice but also by not adopting their violent ways. They really didn't like the vegan shakes, by the way. That was a touch of genius on the part of one group in the demonstration.

And you guys get all huffy about us being rude to these people?

Nice of him to help that guy get situated before he "found" his way into politics and voiced his support for Trump. Damn decent of him.

What is going on is crazy online on any website you go to with a political section, and the ones without just troll the comment sections/forums and nobody can say 'keep that to the political forum' to keep trolls out a little.

Trolls are inevitable online anywhere and if you haven't yet seen what has been going on with people in the real world trying to talk about anything slightly controversial without someone freaking out, it is worth taking the time to learn what they are doing. But, also if they are too much, you can just silence them.

What is going on is crazy online on any website you go to with a political section, and the ones without just troll the comment sections/forums and nobody can say 'keep that to the political forum' to keep trolls out a little.

Trolls are inevitable online anywhere and if you haven't yet seen what has been going on with people in the real world trying to talk about anything slightly controversial without someone freaking out, it is worth taking the time to learn what they are doing. But, also if they are too much, you can just silence them.

Trolls really don't have much to say about politics anymore. It's gotten personal. They went into the web, spread lies and in places like this, couldn't take the heat from the backlash. Now they don't even try to post up their bs propaganda. They just spam us with their butt hurt. Like this one:

Right wing Christians are pushing for return to the days of arresting gay people and women who chose to have a dangerous alley-abortion (because no safe alternatives). Right wing Christians are pushing to extend the damage from human caused global warming. Re-segregation. Not to mention headlong rush to war with Iran.

One learning that came from the French Revolution is that zealots are the real problem, doesn't matter their philosophy. There were several times during that history when the French could have compromised and avoided all the bloodshed. They failed each time. Jacobins were replaced by Girondins and the killings continued. The only thing either had in common was radical and uncompromising belief in the righteousness of their cause. Didn't much matter, both ended with widespread bloodshed.
