beans wont germinate

i bought beans from MSNL and I have tried soaking for 24 hours to get them to germinate in paper towl and jiffy peat pods and dirt, none of there seed will grow so I tried some beans my son in law had lying around fom a bag of mids and they sprouted in 3 days. I dont think MSNL seeds are any good. Has anyone had this problem? They sent me replacements for all and I am trying to soak them again.

if they don't crack and pop a tap root with 48-72 hours I usually just toss em and try again. What was the temp like in the area you tried? Cold temps will slow germination.

I just popped 5 THC Bomb seeds from MSNL......no problem......5 for 5.
However I don't do the soaking/paper towel thing.......rapid rooters for me.

I used a pair of pliers and some twine to crack a seed that had an extra thick shell once. I had enough germinated seeds, so I could experiment with the remainder. It grew just fine. In the end you couldn't tell the difference between her and her sisters.
Am I recommending doing this? Hell no.
But if you're cheap like me it's kinda satisfying.

I guess I should clarify, the seed I cracked with the pliers hadn't popped by herself after 5 days.

Plant them straight into soil and wait. Skip all that unnecessary stuff.

This works for most of those who try it, but my ADD makes it hard to wait 3 days without seeing something happen.

my temp is right on 75. i have tried soaking in water then put to paper towel, peat pod, and dirt. 23 seed and only one sprouted and it looks deformed and not growing very fast but it is still green. i did the same with some mid-grade seed i got out of a bag and they grew right away using 24 hr soak and jiffy pods. my ph is 6.2 .

You can plant it anywhere you like when using rapid rooters.......been using them for over 25 years with nearly 100% rate.

I buy the 25 count starter kit with dome and just use the refills, no germ tray or heat mat for my area. They dry out quickly if you leave all sides exposed to air on a plate. I use a very mild kelp and superthrive solution to prime them.


And yeah, rapid rooters -> hydroton, soil, coco, ebb and flow, etc

they work great.

ive been using the container the jiffy pods came with. yes it has a clear plastic cover

Ive seen it before where domed peat pots and such vector root rot from the moist stagnent air inside - if so an option to discard when trying again

Domes cause me root rot and aborted seedlings now and again - i totally stopped using. Moist warm stagnant air is a recipie for this sometimes

Soak the rooter in purified water.
Squeeze out the excess.
Place seed in the hole.
Tear off a small piece of rooter and cover the hole.
Place in a drawer.....use eye dropper to keep the rooter moist.
In 3-4 days you have sprouts.
No heating pad, not rooting hormones and no domes......domes are for clones.

10 for 10 in 4 days.

Man I got some beans that must not be viable... got them out of some bud from Mexico..I’ve done everything damn near mentioned.. I got some more I will try.. hard ass beans!!i thought if they dropped to the bottom, they absorbed water...
Also I read somewhere in some cases with sativa-ish seeds, this can take up to 3 weeks... to germinate.. I’ve just placed them in soil.. but I don’t think they will pop so I’ll try the other...
What’s the scuffing technique for really troublesome beans?
Frustrating , they are supposedly Acapulco Gold..

Just switched to autos - sensi skunk auto strain but most of sensi's range is awesome. I run my autos like photos anyway.

If Uk can recomend one or two but if usa others can help better.

London seed centre last order because they are Uk but theres one or two others have recomended i might try longer term.

Can just order direct from Sensi in Amsterdamn or other such breeders as well but banks do freebies so.most of us end up there
