Smoking illegally for insomnia relief

I’m new here but want to share my story. I have had debilitating insomnia for 20+ years and recently found weed to be the most effective sleep aid yet. For years I was prescribed sleep meds with horrible side effects and minimal success. My issue is it’s illegal in North Carolina and I could lose my job if I were to be in an accident. Can you help ease my mind or find a way to approach this conundrum?

With it still being illegal in many states, there's not much more you can do. Do they have medical there yet? If so, you can always try getting a prescription.

That's solely up to you. Ease of mind though.....you aren't the only one doing it illegally. Hell.....your neighbor could be growing and you wouldn't even know it. I would use pot illegally in a split second before I pop any kind of pills.
I agree with that. Thank you for the response. Generally I’m ok with the decision to continue but at times get in my own head and panic somewhat.

My fiancée used to panic when she did smoke. We found that higher THC cannabis would trigger her panics. Once she tried a higher CBD to THC ratio, panics went away completely.
Sativa strains are known to cause panic/paranoia in some people (me included), so I exclusively stick to indica dominant strains.

I use cannabis for my restless leg syndrome, and pretty well only vape and eat edibles. Those two methods allow me to sleep very well, whereas smoking isn't as effective.

I've heard of people getting great results with lotions too. We also learned that she needed to have a plant harvested a little later then normal. The further away from the "head high" the better she was too.

I’m sorry for your condition but glad something is working to help. It’s a shame we are in the predicaments we are in. I have to sleep and can’t lose my job... I guess you what works and hope for the best. I really hope you continue fighting the good fight!
