Good point on ventilation, and I was reading about humidity issues per someone else's guidance. I was thinking of having intake from the other room and venting into closet just because the intake air would be fresher - but seems like maybe that's backwards?

I have heard about NL for years and more and more it seems like a winner for the first run. Can't wait to order some beans. Cheers!

Yeah that would be backward.
65f is about what my unheated room is, one of the benefits of running the cmh is plants like the standard HID air temp range, mid to low 70s , you wont have issues with that. Where with LED we tend to aim for 80s and below that your plants wont metabolise at their best. Certainly in veg.
SO for me its a case of run a cmh and plants be happy or add a fair bit of heat to keep them happy with LED.

Now don't get me wrong I flower primerly under LED and I love them dearly. But different environments lend better to different lighting options.

Since you want stealth, you need to know that most fans are very loud (50db), its best to get a slightly bigger one and a good speed controlled and acoustic ducting if possible. That helps considerably.

Basically I hear do what ever I have to do to get my shit dialed in . And that's the most important thing. Temps and humidity

I live in the ne and I was so worried I couldn't make it work in the basement and I put up a wall of insulation and it works. Thank God cause I wouldn't be able to grow in the winter

I'm with you. Environment dictates a lot. Like SFrigon, I think I'm going to have a harder time getting to optimal temps with LED. I'll do some research on HID. Didn't realize their standard temps were so ideal. Might have to look into insulating that closet, too. Would be pretty easy to do, and the room on the other side of that closet is the coldest in the house -- so would be nice to shield from that and exhaust to it only.

I am in the northeast as well. Basement growing.
Biggest problems i have are nite temps and humidity. I can keep nite temps to around 68 but humidity spikes without the exhaust running.
If smell becomes an issue, running exhaust full time gets me down to 64 at lights out, and humidity very low. Still get some good buds, but you can only do so much in a tent.
Ideally i would seal off the room, and keep it where it needs to be, but that isnt in the cards right now.

Ok so all I did was corner it off w 2x4s and put up insulation board , done! Worked like a charm at keeping my temp where needed. Also the exhaust from the veg tent keeps the area warm as well and that has a hundred 50 watt sodium in it for heat

Mine is insulated, and heated. Just with the furnace, water heater, washer/dryer etc. Its pretty dry down there.
I could turn up the heat, but i am a cheapskate. It seems to work well enough as it is. Perfect environment is pretty tough to do
