Purified Water

Unfortunately where I live the tap water is disgusting, something I'd rather not feed the plants. I have a water store next to me and they provide me with purified water at 25 cents a gallon.

Is there any downside to watering with purified water? Will I need to dose in some cal-mag? I'm growing in roots organic soil, currently not using anything but will top dress the soil as needed as I go along. Just planted the seeds straight into the soil.

Thanks in advance!

You will need more nutes then most ppl do, if you use Purified. It will work just fine, but ya might need nutes real soon. I found this:

Purified water is water with no mineral content whatsoever. For this reason, you must add all the nutrients your plants will need into the water manually, before giving it to your plants. Mineral-free water will suck the vital minerals away from your plants.

I bought the Fox Farm liquid TRIO of nutes my first run, still have some left on my 3rd run. I used 1/2 the rec dosage, u would need to use the FULL dosage of nutes. Most experienced growers buy dry soil amendments to blend into the soil, but for newer indoor growers bottled is easier and fast.

What do you mean by purified? Is it just run through a filter to get the chlorine out? Or is it RO with no nothing in it?

Check ppm if you can of your "purified water" should be less then 10ppm
Yup you’re spot on. Not sure I go to a store water dispensing store, it’s definitely filtered mechanically not sure if similar fashion to RO. Was thinking of getting an RO filter system at my house because the tap sucks but in the mean time 25 cents a gallon doesn’t hurt me.

I understand liquid nutes is an easier route to take, but I rather dabble with organic soil amendments and top dress along the way as needed or brew teas.
