Aussie Growers Thread

as I said with legalisation I think the volume smoked would increase dramatically (especially considering concentrates etc) and not everyone can be bothered to grow. Even those who do most wont be any good. You know the difference between good and great weed and most small time growers just won’t have what it takes to grow great weed for themselves
most people just want cheap weed- thats why asian is the norm on the mainland.

I’m in 100% agreement with it should be like alcohol laws. Plain and simple for everyone to understand. It’s not even as harder drug as alcohol, and most seem to forget that. Never killed anyone, not like alcohol. And I’m sure the law enforcement, and first responders would rather deal with someone that was stoned rather than drunk.
There should also be a scaled license for commercial growers, the way its set up now only accommodates the larger funded ops, not a boutique grower.
I dont think it will ever favour the boutique growers. Big Pharma are making sure of that.

Alcohol laws down here favour the spirit guys over the beer guys- less tax. Always a winner and a loser eh?

I think licensing should be based on footprint. Where larger footprints pay more per square meter than smaller growers to put more into the small/medium business range instead of 1-2 massive players controlling the game. Yeah bigger players will exist but a scaled licensing system would level the field.

obviously testing prior to sale is important as well as Inspections of grow facilities much like food safety inspirations to ensure compliance with regulations.

Yep, and that’s why it’s wrong, almost like a restriction of trade if it becomes rec legal. And most countries that done fed med legal have eventually gone rec legal.

Imagine if you only had access to Cascade beer, and couldn’t get the boutique.

until that spirit gets turned into a pre mix. Also
Beer guys only get taxed real hard on kegs yeah? and boutique brewers get various tax exemptions from The federal government

pretty much why I like the idea of more increasing the costs of licenses exponentially with footprint. Big pharma can balance their costs by incorporating testing in house etc things that Small/medium growers couldn’t do.

lets face it but the government will probably fuck it up if they do go the legal route anyway

Agree, although I believe that independent third party testing should be mandatory before sale to public.

Yeah, if they jump the gun like the ACT did they’ll fuck it up for sure. There’s plenty of OS models they can evaluate, however I hope they come up with something better than most. Wouldn’t it be ideal if we became a leader for all citizens, rather just follow someone else’s model. :peace:

We have a form of this. Small scale growers have to pay about half as much as large scale for licensing. But its just the amounts i don't agree with, I think they say under 250m2 is small scale, above is large scale.. bad luck for joe bloggs who has 251m2

That was their initial proposal that they we're putting forward for feedback anyway.

I think an independent regulatory authority to inspect facilities would be a better option. They could take samples at all stages of the operation while making sure conditions are sanitary etc. surprise inspections/testing from someone who effectively doesn’t have any skin in the game.
