Combined UV/IR switch

Hey guys, workin with my new QB that came with a switch to turn on both UV and IR at the same time. Growing autos. They have been budding a week or 2 now, so I'm looking at toying with at least some UV....but does IR have any positive or negative effect on autos? I understand the idea of the emerson effect and photos, but that doesnt make a heck of alot of sense with autos, as they don't require the "sleep" and "awakening" that photos do.

I guess my question is, when do I turn on this UV/IR switch to gain some positive effect, or do I just leave it off even though I want some UV in their lives.....because I'm worried about the IR being left on. So far due to lack of information I have just been taking my friends advice and leaving the switches on for 2 hours a day, mid-day, because there is no way to seperate and time these switches, and there's no way I'm doing it manually on a daily basis.

Thoughts, ideas? Thanks alot guys.

while IR may not be overly beneficial it wont do any harm either, turn it on and enjoy.
Thanks alot for the fast reply DB...All day is fine? Same with UV? Or should I begin a few hours a day while they're just beginning to bud and eventually all day?

Yeah it's a pretty strong QB, with top quality UV/IR bulbs, that is part of my worry is that they're a bit strong, so all day is frightening for me is all.

Np, my plants are under uv/ir all day, or atleast for their 12hours as i run photos, i have done autos though and had them under it all day and they were fine. Also @Gond00s isnt wrong, but i run perpetual cycles so only running uv for last few weeks isnt an option for me, however best to only use it during flower in general, no need in veg.

Awesome man, thanks again. And yep, I am running perpetual autoflowers too, I've got 1 light for my vegs and 1 for my flowers though. No UV/IR on my veg light, and they're a decent way away from eachother, they should be fine from what I've been told. This is my first UV/IR experience, you better believe I've been asking questions. lol

also those uv ledhips aren't that strong or good just lettin u know because those uv led chips don't produce any good amount of uv what I noticed some boards are different but I would like to see what boards u bought because I can almost say if their from Alibaba their garbo uv diodes

lol, busted!!! Yes they're Alibabas....if they aren't lying though, these are supposed to be top quality, no? And I did do some research before jumping on them, I don't think they're lying.

their good its just I don't trust uv leds not worth it in led term better to get two t5 hos and throw uv bulbs in does a amazing job two of the bulbs for a 4x8 just let that sink in and the bulbs are only on like 15 mins a day because each of the bulbs are like 54 watts soo very strong uv

im almost 100% sure their using 360nm+ and not using uvb b so your not really gettin the best boost u need a combo of uva / uvb for it to wrok right u need the right amount of the light to balance it out so u got your uva but i could be wrong idk what exact uv chips they give u but i saw a video testing them and wasn't so good for the chips the reptile bulbs won in uv amount lol but i would like to know what the exact uv spec their using

thanks imma go look over it and from what I see it is just the lg 34x34 I don't think their that strong either so those you can run 24/7 because the one u sent and if its only just that one its just 385nm so that would just be uva not b. b is the one that causes the plant to produce more trichomes

Awesome, thanks for understanding that stuff better than me. lol
So the 660nm would be safe all day too? And if I'm getting no more trichomes, do you think it's even worth my time ??

I will go read more about UVA, I read about UVB for the most part, because yeah, I understood that was the one I was looking for.
I wonder why this company would include UVA in their setup instead of B if that's the case...?

not many people know that its b they just think its uva but the ir I just use that for flower or if u want to induce some stretch u can use it for sure but you should run the room at like 78-80 to have the plants be the most happy

their is something I read and someone can correct or add on to this their is a certain thing in the plant that when it reacts to uvb it becomes activated I thinking its something like a cell receptor for the plant that activates when it is exposed to uvb something like this I think their some people that know how exactly how it works and if u want I can try to find out what I read about it. but who knows man they like making money and not doin research.
i have noticed with uva u can get huge fan leaves but thats kinda a minus in my book
