Silver haze 4x4 scrogg. 6 weeks old at the minute defoliated for the first time.. let me know what what you think ? I am starting to get the hang of this scrogging.. I think anyway lol. I am going to put a 600 watt hps into here I think ! Cheers Ryan.

YES!! You do have the hang of the SCROG method. The "weave 'em through the mesh" pic looks like a hippo sat on them and the other pic shows you now have tops up the wazoo! You will LOVE what that grow area will look like once you hit Week 5 of bloom.

Hard to see if there are any open spots in the mesh. If there are no openings in the net, start the flip now. If there are some open areas that you can fill in, do that first ... then flip.

I wouldn't defoliate willy nilly. But there is some targeted pruning that you can do pretty soon. And there is some pruning you can do in a few weeks.

Right now, your canopy is getting to be pretty thick so the stuff down below the netting is useless. I would recommend doing some lollipopping and remove any fan leaves and small sucker buds sites that are below the net. They are not going to help the plant grow or give you anything useful so snip 'em off.

After Week 4 of flower, you can go after more of those sucker branches - also from below the net. Suckers are those small weak twigs who's top has not penetrated into the main canopy and will be light starved. You can see that the sucker buds are smaller and larfier that the stuff developing in the main canopy. By waiting till week 4 and letting the stretch complete, you can see those branches easier and you don't accidentally snip what might be a donkey dick.

At that same time, you can also selectively defoliate some portions of any fan leaves that are blocking bud sites.

Thankyou for your input this picture is before defoliation and after hopefully be alot more bud sites popping within the next week this is my first leaf strip I will do one or two more in flower it seems to of helped me other grow massively. Thanks mate

Quick question. I took down my scrogg net and did a good strip took all the larf off and leaves to let light through.. once scrogged do you need the net ? You have the shape of the plant and filled width ways ect... so I took it down? Does it really matter..? Day 25 of flower so far..

You need to keep the net the entire time
They will actually try to straightin back out and reach up. Also it helps support them once they pack on weight.

I been defoling for years at random times and never really had a problem.

Ok thanks bud. I actually have cobs in each corner so hopefully wont reach towards middle ? I am putting a net over them today to support and open them up a tad?

Yes you do ... and removing a SCROG net can be rather difficult. Some pretty thick and strong branches would be woven through the mesh once they have been a few weeks in flower. That net is there for the duration.

I will cut the string to get the plant out when I am ready to harvest but until then, that lower net stays put.

I think so yeah about that ! Plain water has started I was thinking 2 weeks of water to see if they use stored nutrients from leaves

Yup. They will.

I'll add 1 tsp. molasses/gallon (I use imperial gallons ... ) once per week during that final stage. Helps the soil microbes to stay active and aid the plant in getting whatever they can out of the medium before they cannibalize the leaves.
