Safest organic fertilizers on a budget

I am looking to put in a few plants this year for my first time, I have the time but not so much the money. I’m looking for cheap maybe homemade fertilizers for the seedling vegging and flowering phases. I’m just trying to get an idea what I’m going to need to get before I start in a few weeks! Dr earth probably cheap and readily available as you can get. Any home Depot.

Dry fertilizer like a 4-4-4 . I haven't used them but I'm thinking of something along those lines for next grow

Organics are by far the cheapest way to grow weed but you will need some raw materials to work with. Thankfully you don't have to get everything all at once to start off....Aquire what you need as you go.
Start by getting a bag of good organic garden soil. Cannot go wrong with something like ocean forest or happy frog or both but any decent soil with good drainage will work. You will also need a bag of earthworm castings. That's all you really need to start off your plants.
Ffof is like $35 for a 1.5 cu ft bag which will get 2-3 plants through seed to harvest. Unco ewc is under $20 a bag and is enough for probably 2 grows. Get some Jobes organic spikes for bloom phase; $8 for 50pk will last a year or more. Charlie's compost chicken manure is very good fertilizer at $18 for 10 lbs will last a real long time. Great for mid veg through flowering.
Finally, get some D-lime for recycling the soil after your first harvest. You can aquire more amendments to recharge the soil like crushed oyster shell, fish bone, kelp, and neem meal as you go.
Having all this stuff on hand allows you to also make aact teas, diy spikes, and other ways to keep the soil active and the plants happy. A small investment up front makes long term soil growing very cost effective. Plus organic cannabis tastes the best. You'll get a more exotic end product for very little effort; all you do is just water your plants.

Starting these plants indoors and then moving them outdoors late May early June, I am in Michigan so I plan on using the sun outside to my full advantage to try and save on lights. Are these recommendations going to be the same if I plant them directly into soil.I am planting them over top of an old chicken pasture

$35 for a 1.5 cu ft bag of FFOF? Wow that's expensive. Pricing must be regional because the shop down the road from me has it for $15.95 for a 1.5 cu ft bag.

Epsom salts $3

Moist goods: (fortunately local fresh)
Earth worm castings $15 1/2 cu ft.

Since you are in MI, if you have an Ace Hardware with a garden section, you will find most of that stuff there.

Since you are in MI, if you have an Ace Hardware with a garden section, you will find most of that stuff there.

The one I bought doesn't really smell at all and I have the plants in my bedroom closet. Wife wouldn't like it to smell like a farm in there, so she's happy too, lol. Yeah should note that's Amazon pricing; the local grow bros around here are complete idiots. But hey I get they are just trying to make sales. I don't fault them for that for they know not what they do. Give me bad advice and tried to sell me a lotta crap I did not even need so I no longer frequent the store. They used to carry both ffof and sunshine mix for like $20 1.5 cu ft which were used as base soil.

So glad to hear it's working for ya. Loaded with bacteria and keeps well on a shelf; cheap compared to other bagged ferts. A handful per container is enough to feed for several weeks. A 10 lb bag last me like 6+ mo.

This is an older post, but YES, FOLKS ->. Ace Hardware carries Espoma. It's equivalent to DrEarth, Down to Earth dry organic fertilizers at fraction of costs. Seriously don't fall for the Gaia Green stuff......I mean you can, if you don't mind paying double/triple for the EXACT SAME PRODUCT.
Is Ace only in Michigan???? Didn't know that
