Made some butter

So I made some butter to make some edibles for a good buddy who was in a motorcycle accident. He wants them to help with the pain so I used a mix of punch breath and freezer burn x lemon fire larf.

130 grams of larf bud and 6 sticks of butter is what I used.

Decarbed at 250f for 25 minutes then pressed into a 1 quart pyrex dish.

That grape/fruit press was from amazon and is worth every penny because i can squeeze 90 - 95% of the butter out of the weed and easily collect it.

LOL and I've never heard of those strains! What are they like? I find even weed with uppity highs make me slow in edibles. Funny it's like if I cook with it I get the same stoney high nothing like smoking.

Edibles seem to effect everyone differently. Some people get high on them faster than others, some just get sleepy, others get nothing at all... I use edibles for my back pain and at the dosages I tend to take I am usually still stoned the next day. It is the best muscle relaxer I have found though.

The punch breath is fruity, very stoney, indica body high prevails on my pheno. The FB x LF is a capulator cut, really does smell like freezer burnt lemons, very good strain for my OCD, calms me down but I can still think. I think the strain is also known as Caps Frozen Lemons

I have back issues also and yeah your right it is the best muscle relaxer I've used but totally still feel it the next day. Not like Pharms though, I really hate how I feel on them. Was just looking in my weed fridge and some butter went bad since I don't use it fast enough. But I make a mix of butter and "real" honey........thats still good, because of the honey. Love a little of that in the morning cup of coffee!

Freeze your butter and it lasts longer.
Yeah I know that........then I really have to much butter! All my trim and larf go to butter, olive oil or hash and I try to give as much away as I can. The thing with a legal state is everyone's got to much lol you try to give it away and you just get a different strain in return!

I use a press from time-to-time, but most often what I do is strain through cheesecloth and squeeze out the liquid by hand, then tie up the product inside of the cheesecloth into a ball, and throw those balls (cheesecloth wrapped product) into a ziplock, and put the ziplock into the freezer.

Then, when we cook a chicken or turkey, we put a couple of the cheesecloth balls inside of the cavity. The flavour and remaining liquid infuse the chicken.

We then make broth with the leftovers.

The soup has a wonderful aroma, and gives you a very mild albeit noticeable edible-type body buzz.

Awesome when you're sick from a cold or flu.

Used to do stuff like that but I have kids now so that makes edibles harder to have too. :( man I love some things that I just can't have around anymore

I never have too much. Firstly I hate making it so I don't do it that often but when I do I usually do a bunch to make it worth while. I also make coconut oil for back massages (my girl is a LMT) and for cooking with. I eat a lot of THC daily and we also make edibles for friends.

I could make more but I dedicate most of the larf to the tumbler or bubble bags then pressed for rosin. this was just a little pile of kief from my trim bin that I pressed for a little over 5 grams of the yummy dabs...

ive been eyeing that press for awhile, just havent bit the bullet & ordered it. did you still use the cheesecloth in combo with the strainer ?

I think mines is a bigger size but yeah looks like the same maker. The base is kinda cheapo, when I clamp it down it flexes. Also don't run the screw part thru the dishwasher because the flat bit that actually presses the weed will get a coating of black oxidation thats really fun to clean off and will rub off easily in your product.

And put a hose clamp on the tube, when the hot oil hits the tubing mine softened up and with the lubrication slid right off while I was pressing. Made a real mess.

I never thought of it before, but I have a potato ricer that would probably work well. It's not a screw down press, so only hand pressure, but it would do a better job then just pressing with a spoon.
