T tries to grow a pound

Noticed some tip burn on the new growth and my run off water was 3000 EC. Should have been monitoring the runoff a little more closely. Flushed with 5 gallons per plant and got the EC down to 800 and watered with a normal nutrient solution.
3000 high for sure.
What did you flush with?

After reading up on coco, I never use plain water......here's the scoop.

Ya I thought about it but thought it would be ok? It does talk about using plain water for nutrient lockout, which is not my plants problem (although it was probably heading there).
I was also worried about how much more water it was going to take to flush if I used nutrients. My water drainage system isn't great and dealing with 5 gallons per plant was already enough for me.
Laziness may have won out. I was planning on watering with a bit more runoff for the next couple days at least.

You should be ok. For me, if I have an issue with the coco ca/mag, it usually shows up a few weeks into flower, then I end up trying to play catch-up.
Using some early in veg and flower helps me prevent issues.

More boring (great!) coco info.

High K in the coco + high K in nute solution = potential for Excess K all thru the grow.

Needed to adjust my drainage lines so I pulled the plants out and gave them all a pretty big defoliation. Although they still look very bushy.
Starting to worry about mold and mildew. Never tried to grow this dense before. Trying to keep temp and humidity swings to +-5 degrees.

I like the structure of the plant that was stripped almost bare bones. The other two are a bit too unruly with too many new, leggy growth tips IMO. But, these are probably over vegged for the size space I have so maybe not a great learning experience. I think next time I will either try scrog or topping once/not at all. Scrog I don't really want to do because of the hard to reach plant.

My light is at max height...so that is an upcoming problem.

Waste EC was coming out around 2100-2200. Decided to lower ratio to 3.4/2.2/1.2 which gives me 16-1700 EC (300 EC tap water).

This tip burn is going to be embarrassing to look at for the rest of the grow.

I had always planned to do a big defoliation on week 3. Although the more I read about defoliation the more I get confused. Went ahead and did it on two of the plants. Didn't do much to the third.

Changed ratio to 3.0/2.0/1.1
Waste water wanted to stay around 2100 so I lowered the EC some more.

when I 1st saw all the tips you where cutting off I was like wtf then remembered the size of grow space that turnt out real nice so far

Getting closer to automatic watering. Planning to put the drum in a foam box as its going to be really hot and cold in the garage. And then run the water lines through the wall into the closet. Got the drum for free at a car wash.
Wallet hurts after buying 50 lbs of Jacks.

Everything going well. Browsing through another journal I found some re-usable grow bags that might be worth a try.

Better than melting your credit card buying those fancy label designer nutes!

Speaking of res in garage, I had to add an aqarium heater my last run. Cheap and easy fix.

I lowered ratio to 1.5 /1/ .5
My containers are drying out too fast due to low humidity and the EC keeps rising. Was having to water an excessive amount to get the EC down so will see how this works out. Currently watering 3 times a day.

Looking great.

Another method is to keep nute mix the same, just add some water to lower ec. Adjust ph and letr rip.

Feeding more often with a lower ec is effective for lowering root ec.

Got some more stuff in for automatic watering. I realized that I'm taking some risk by trying to set this up during flower. I was thinking trying to water 4 times during lights on and once during lights off to try to mitigate the evaporation loss. Not sure though need to do some more reading.

Was also planning on switching to 3 gallon instead of these monster 7 gallons for the next grow. But I'm wondering if I will have too many problems with evaporation loss.

I use the same timer.

Not good when I forget to put it back into "Timed" mode after making changes. Can be a lil tricky - practice helps, that and keeping the manual nearby for when I forget how. :dunce:
