DWC good for rookies?

Hello i like the idea of only having to mix nutrients once a week for flower, and twice a week for veg. The fast growth ive seen with dwc looks nice aswell! im still fairly new and learning the plants in general. Does this setup look good? Strong enough pump? Newbie friendly?

If you are smart you can survive. For your first time do you have 20 minutes a day to spend on the plants? You also need $$$ for all kinds of little things. But once you learn a bit on info it is not very difficult. But you have to spend a lot of time learning.

Yeah ive got a few runs under my belt i like the idea of automating the watering so i can spend more time watching the plants and not the reseviour

Then look more into rdwc than dwc. Single buckets have more limitations than a larger connected system.
In the reviews someone showed a picture and said they converted it to rdwc easily. I think ill pull the trigger on this setup and go from there! Any suggestion on size of rockwool cubes to get for the clones to go into is 4" cubes too large?

My suggestion is dont use rockwool.
Build or buy yourself an aero cloner if you want to dwc. Itll make your life so much easier in the early stages if you let them grow out for a couple weeks in the cloner and transplant them into netpots with hydroton when the roots will reach out of the bottom of the pot and into the water.
The transition into the netpots and getting roots down into the water is the biggest pain in the ass part of dwc. Using a cloner, you can skip it entirely.

My friend just sent me a picture 5 mins ago of the clones he took and will be giving me for my first run with dwc the roots look like they should be long enough. I was going to copy his style to save a buck on the cloner in the begining. Does this look like they will be viable

A diy cloner can be as cheap as like $20-30. Its much easier to start that way than to deal with rockwool or rooters if this is something you want to stick with.

What size net pots are you using? With those, I would suggest using a 6" pot and then get some 2" or 3" to set upside down inside it to make like a stand in the middle of it for the cube. Then you fill in around it with hydroton. Theres a shitty period at that stage while the roots grow down. Ive seen quite a few people have success with doing it like that. You want the roots to have moisture, but you dont want the rockwool cube too low in the pot or itll soak up too much and rot your stem.

I run rdwc but play with some dwc totes here and there.

I had some clones and decided to try a DWC for the heck of it. Ran into problems with aphids but not a problem with the DWC. First had the cone in the pot without the roots in the water, had an air pump and stone bubble up some solution. Once they had some roots in the solution I did not bother with the air anymore. Other than change the solution once a week (and fighting the bugs) I did nothing else till harvest.

ok the more i look into the cloners and the root systems they produce, i understand why you suggested this, those are amazing i will be looking for reviews etc and purchasing one now

Yeah idk if you saw the transplant on the first page of my post, but it just makes life so much easier. Just cut a small part out of the bottom of the net pot, gently feed the roots through it, and fill around it with hydroton.
I just use dyna-gro KLN and pro tekt in my cloner and roots just explode.
There are other ways to do it for sure, but this has been the best of all the seedling methods I have tried for dwc.
