The deceptive part of topping is it makes it seem like your plant isn't growing as fast, when you dont top most of growth goes into one single cola. When you top it splits the resources amongst all the tops but your still getting the same amount of growth it's just distributed evenly.
This is exactly why when I start my next grow i want to do so much experimenting to observe things with my own eyes! I only get 5 plants though, maybe 2 skywalker and 2 critical mass one each just trained, one each topped and trained so I can choose in the future which I prefer!

Don’t top them just veg for longer and train them I’ve topped before not worth it better off getting cuttings in my personal opinion
Topping is a must if growing bigger bushes, and wanting big yield/quality. It really gets the plant branching out.
LST can be great after you’ve topped!
If you’re plants are healthy and mature enough, then they won’t be stunted one bit. The topped cola/s may not grow vertically for a few days, but just watch the rest of the plant explode with growth! You won’t see that from lst alone.
Nearly everyone that yields a pound plus will top their plant at least once.
Top your plants and give more veg time and your yield will increase considerably if your lighting allows!!

How long did you veg and how much did it stretch and what was the total height?
I vegged for like six or 7 weeks total and i think the tallest one was only 4 or 5 foot i have plenty of height in my room tho and vs other strains its not huge lol anything like say white widow and it be through the roof with that much veg so clearly wants to stay smaller vs tall naturally the stretch is not huge pretty normal amount id say too

Have you considered growing sog? More plants with next to no veg time? Very minimal fluffy popcorn bud if done right, no training required and very quick turn over.

Dawgberries day 47. 3 gallon pot. No stretch at all. Puts out big fat nugs. These are a touch smaller than a can of pop. Great for what you are after. Dm and I can hook you up where to get them.

That's a good idea. How many plants in a 2x2? How long veg for short indica?

Amen. I got 27 oz of killer Sour D buds in one 10g pot outdoors by topping, bending, spreading, etc to create 20+ colas, resulting in a 5.5’ plant. Break apical dominance, spread the the canopy, be vigilant about bugs and nute issues, etc. can produce amazing yields!

Haven’t had much experience with sog tbh. Done it a couple of times.
You really want to be doing it from clone off a single mother so all plants will grow the same.
I did it with hybrids my 1st go at it and vegged for 5 days from rooted clone which was too long in veg.
May be a good amount of time for a near pure indica...?
A lot of guys prune off the lower branches leaving pretty well the main cola.
They probably have like 10 plants in a 2x2 space with next to no side branching. Plants focus all their energy on their main cola.
Nothing but a sea of quality head buds!
Sog is hands down the best way to grow indoors in regards to yield, quality and turnover.
But it does have its cons like huge plant count and a lot of little plants to setup and care for.
But in your situation it’s worth looking into and talking to some of the sog growers here I think.

Exactly man!
Nothing better than bending and spreading open a 5.5’ lady
