Peet Pod Growing Issue/Question

I've had them sitting on the heating pad for almost two weeks. Nothing so far has popped up. I did open up the peat pod and look at both the seeds. I have the humidity lid on the jiffy tray and wrapped with a towel around it but not over the lid.

Neither have a taproot showing, one is still brown while the other seed has started getting a darker color to it, not black but a darker shade of brown. I tested both seeds in a bowl of water and they both sank to the bottom so I know they are hydrated.

Ideas? suggestions?

Id say bad seeds. How old were they? 21 days is max I’ve ever heard for late popping. Personally, 14 days and I toss em. Only other thing you could try is gently scraping the outter shell and re planting.

Where did you get them? I'd also guess bad seeds.

Oh, and was there condensation on your humidity some?

Try the paper towel method for a few more days, if that doesn't work I'd email the seller (assuming it was a legit seedbank).

Yes there is condensation on the humidity dome.

I've placed all my seeds on a wet paper towel and put them in a zip locked bag. I checked them all again and none are cracked at this point.

Wanted to know where people usually sit their zip lock bag. Heating pad? Cable box? Fridge? etc..

I don’t like pet pods at all. They hold too much water and can compact too easily. I tried root riot plugs last year and never turned back.

I sit mine on top of my hot water heater just gotta make sure they zipped closed good so th ey dont dry out

Quick update on this. I put the seeds in a wet towel and placed it on my cable box. Within 36 hours I had a half-inch taproot on one of the three seeds. I've taken that one and placed it in a pot with organic soil and a little bit of distilled water, enough to damp the soil but not soak it. Its now under a CFL light with a 18/6 timer setup.

Is this a good setup? Or should I modify anything?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions for a newbie at growing this.

The only suggestion I have would be would be to turn the light off until they sprout (unless you need it for the heat). I'd also put a plastic cup over the seed until it sprouts, to keep the moisture in the soil, and you should be able to just leave it be without having to water it for at least a few days.

Much appreciated. What about a glass mason jar or as I've seen others suggest plastic wrap over the top?
