I am setting up a new grow and thought i would share my progress.

so far i have upgraded the electrical to 250amps. removed the 8x8 tile and most of the mastic underneath it. framed in the 2 rooms and have ran most of the 110 electrical for the rooms. 36 electrical boxes between the two rooms so far.

all suggestions are most welcome

How will you divide up the space as far as veg, flower and storage?

What grow style will you use? Soil, RDWC etc?

What lighting type will you use? HID? LED?

How about ventilation/cooling?

imo I could be wrong but I would have done 240v but that's a different story how are u planning to cool the room and what are u planning to run power wise. if u wanna max that out then u should prob worry about climate. what is the square footage of the area?

it’s 13.5x18 for veg. 13.5x24 for flower.

growing in coco or a peat mix.

i want to set this up with all LEDs. but have no experience with it. i have just ordered a 1000w diy kit and will run a cycle in a tent to test it. if i have bad results i’ll hang HIDs and keep working on figuring out leds in a tent.

the veg room will have a 24k btu mini split and flower will have its own 5ton unit with a handler.

flower will also have an autofeed setup

the 240 will be in next. all of the 110 outlets are for fans/humidifier/dehu inline fans etc.. all of the boxes for fans are on their own circuit so they can all be easily switched off

i don’t quite know how to run the 240 yet because i’m not sure how a room full of leds should be powered. i am familiar with how this is done with HIDs

imho when u run full power that's gonna be around 17kw when maxed out full so just be prepared to be using electric

Sounds like you've at least put in some planning. There are a few growers on here who have experience in building out larger grow rooms and such, and because of that, are good at calculating ventilation and A/C needs and requirements. These people are good as a second set of eyes to review things for you.

One person is @Renfro. Perhaps he can have a look to see if there are cost efficiencies that could be had. He's also very up on his electrical related to jobs like this as well.

just make sure u know how to do 240 because A LOT can go wrong

for sure. i want to run 240 as much as possible since it pulls less amps. i also just run the lines a licensed electrician will be hooking it all to the box

well just imo atleast I would use armored cable that's me atleast but u should be fine im not sure the exact watt to btu for leds so not really sure if your acs are good but pretty damn sure they are

Armoured (BX) cable isn't required if the wiring will be run normally (ie. through the wall studs, and into proper boxes). Only exposed wire/cable needs to be protected with BX or conduit. A furnace, or hot water tank is a good example of where BX is commonly used. From a junction box that's hard-wired, the part that's exposed and run to the tank would be BX.

Thanks still learning but yeah I get that Its just if its gonna be their for a while might as well as go with a stronger cable. me I would just try to run them just in case if u get what I mean but that might just be me probably just overkill on my part :eyesmoke:

i will be using 6-2 aluminum cable for 240.
If my memory is correct thats good for 40 amps. If you are pulling the 240 into a controller make sure the lugs are rated for aluminum conductors. 32 amps usable power.

Ditch the aluminum cable if you can. I would have increased my flower room in relation to veg to be a 1:2 ratio, but dont know how specifically how your operating. If you go with leds then Bridgelux would be my vote. Run your temps a little higher between 27-29 c and jump up cal mag a little more than normal. Coco and leds will make your plants hungrier for mag.

we also use BX/AC/MC (metal clad) cable in metal studs.

will the 5 ton run low ambient (when its cold outside)?
What do you mean by low ambient? I can pull fresh cold air into the veg room in winter. But the flower room will have co2 so id like to keep it pretty sealed, so the a/c would be running full blast all year

i left space in the veg room for clones and mothers. i would like to try tissue culture in the future for clones
